Sean Reinert (Cynic, Death), Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth, Control Denied), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Alex Arellano (Power Of Omens), Phil Collins, Uli Kusch (Helloween, Holy Moses), Nick Barker (Dimmu Borgir), Mark Cross (Metalium, Helloween), Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory), Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth, Vision Divine), Pete Hammoura (Nile), Jason Rullo (Symphony x)

Neil Peart - Rush

Bobby Jarzombek (Riot, Halford), Scott Travis (Racer X, Fight, Judas Priest), John Macaluso (Riot, Yngwie Malmsteen), just to name 3 of hundreds of talented metal drummers out there. And there are PLENTY of non-metal drummers who shred as well!

Very nice list! I loved the early Loudness stuff!
And Fifth Angel is one of the few groups whose albums I have bought more than once.
Linda is on this list already, but will likely move up soon (once I finally get around to grabbing Phantom Blue CD's - if they still exist...)

whom to add, whom to add... ahhh yes!

Pete Parada (of Engine fame). I like his thoughtful use of percussion!
Clive/Nicko (Ya think?!?)
Mark Zonder (Fates Warning). Again, thoughtful use of percussion...

Peart is still godly. Not many drummers in their 40s, acclaimed and their position in history secured, would decide to throw out their whole way of playing and completely restart, putting the band on hold for a year in the process. But he did.

His "A Work in Progress" video should be required viewing for all drummers, so they don't have to learn some of the basics at age 43. :)

His tech is in the new Drum! magazine, and he said that because of Neil's new style of playing he doesn't break drum heads any more, he doesn't even leave dents. He hadn't had to change the heads throughout the tour, which is pretty much unheard of, especially with someone who hits as hard as Neil., and he does hit hard. I saw him twice in September and was amazed.

And the fact that Neil could come back after his whole family was wiped out is another testimony to his courage.

I saw Rush at the Gorge in Washington state this summer...Peart is definitely still godly!Other than some P.A. problems, just an awesome, awesome show. Did I mention it was awesome? :-)

LowG and Losfer, you guys are sweet. :)

Hey, I try, but I'd watch out for that other guy - I think he's only after one thing - free drum lessons. ;)

I'd teach him myself, but I don't how to teach, or how to play drums. Other than that....
