Early Ulrich? He's a worse drummer now than he was then or what? Anyway..

hmm.. Nicholas Barker is a really good black metal drummer (Dimmu Borgir, ex-Cradle Of Filth)

Bill Bruford - King Crimson and practically all of the 1970's Brittish prog greats
Billy Cobham - Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Miles Davis band etc.
Hellhammer - Arcturus, Mayhem etc.
Bill Ward - Black Sabbath
Martin Lopez - Opeth
Carl-Michael Eide aka Aggressor - Ved Buens Ende..., Aura Noir, Cadaver Inc.
Pat Mastelotto - King Crimson etc.
Neil Peart - Rush
Rodrigo Artiga - Thus Perish (My band...!)
Teemu Hänninen - Alamaailman Vasarat, Höyry-Kone

I think there are many others whom I do not remember now that would belong here..

...oh, yeah, shouldn't forget! All the guys in Kodo drummers.

Anders and Martin - Opeth
Danny Carey - Tool
Josh Freese - A Perfect Circle (The Vandals, GnR)
Nick Barker - ex-Cradle (I like some...)
Neil Peart - Rush

A lot of the music I listen to doesn't have a prominent drummer..

Favourite drummer is:

Jan Axel Blomberg (Mayhem, Arcturus, Immortal, Fleuerety, Kovenant, Thorns, Troll, Winds)- he crushes all before him!(thought I'd be different and use his real name, seeing as everyone else has already mentioned him :D )

Also:
John Douglas (Anathema)
Shaun Steels (MDB)
The guy from Nightwish
Garms computer :p

Gene Hoglan for sure! That man knows how to turn a percussion section into an technically mindboggling instrument!

And Fenriz, perhaps the best and most tasteful, interesting drumbeats I've ever heard.

After hearing Prometheus, I am more impressed than ever with Trym's playing.

And finally, Asgeir! Hope it works out and he ends up on the new Vintersorg.

Neil Peart- Rush
Pete Sandoval- Morbid Angel
Nicko McBrain- Iron Maiden
Tim Alexander- Primus, various fusion projects
Danny Carey- Tool
Anders Nordin
Mike Portnoy

Hell, I can't think of any more right now. These are who always come to mind first.

Juuso "Orchid" Backman - Thales (haven't even heard him yet, but he's a great guy)
Ken Gillcash - P.U.C.K. (Previously Unheard Canadian Kids), The Northmen
Keith Moon - The Who (has noone mentioned Moon yet?)
John Bonham - Led Zeppelin (has noone mentioned JOHN FUCKING BONHAM yet?!)
Gene Hoglan - SYL and other Devin Townsend projects
Dave Lombardo - Slayer, Testament, etc.
And of course, Martin and Anders.

Alan White: Yes
Sean Reinhart: Cynic
Bill Bruford: Yes, KC
Siggi: Sugercubes
Peart: Rush (of course)
Pierre Moerlen: Gong
Hell Hammer

I have an affectation for the technical/progressive.
