Best of 2011

Here's a list of albums i heard in the last month and they are top 10 contenders.
Craft - Void
Tsjuder - Legion Helvete
Arckanum - Helvitismyrkr
Taake - Noregs Vaapen
Glorior Belli - The Great Southern Darkness
Dødkvlt - II
Thulcandra - Under a Frozen Sun

The percentage of 2011 albums that I own and have not even listened to is appalling. I need to do something about that. I've been too focused on listening to things for the purposes of my magazine. This is about everything I've listened to more than 3 times this year:

Manilla Road - Playground of the Damned
Hell - Human Remains
Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult
Burzum - Fallen
Countess - On Wings of Defiance
Dolorvotre - Dolorvotre
Necrovorous - Funeral for the Sane
Disma - Towards the Megalith

1. Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult
2. Assaulter - Boundless!
3. Portrait - Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae
4. Doomsword - The Eternal Battle
5. Argus - Boldly Stride the Doomed
6. Negative Plane - Stained Glass Revelations
7. Cardinals Folly - Such Power is Dangerous!
8. Heathendom - The Symbolist
9. Primordial - Redemption at the Puritans Hand
10.The Gates of Slumber - The Wretch

Other quality stuff that are at least good that I need to listen to more before they fully sink in:

Dark Forest - Dawn of Infinity
The Wounded Kings - In The Chapel of the Black Hand
Isole - Born From Shadows
In Solitude - The World. The Flesh. The Devil
Arkham Witch - On Crom's Mountain
Ceremonial Castings - March of the Deathcult
Oranssi Pazuzu - Kosmonument
Absu - Abzu
Manilla Road - Playground of the Damned
Sonne Adam - Transformation
Autopsy - Macabre Eternal
Sinister Realm - The Crystal Eye
Satan's Host - By The Hands of the Devil
High Spirits - Another Night

New Vektor and Midnight will be awesome as well.

This is really just to open my perception to releases not to rank it..I already owned it before I started the thread so didn't need to harp on that release

Blaspherian - Infernal Warriors of Death

If you like old school death metal this is a godsend, on par with the classics of the genre. The focus is on quality metal rather than being new, original or trendy.

1. Primordial - Redemption at the Puritan's Hand
2. Omnium Gatherum - New World Shadows
3. Vader - Welcome to the Morbid Reich
4. Anubis Gate - Anubis Gate
5. Wolverine - Communication Lost
6. Insomnium - One for Sorrow
7. Decapitated - Carnival is Forever
8. Sylosis - Edge of the Earth
9. Ulcerate - The Destroyers of All
10. Xerath - II
11. Within Temptation - The Unforgiving
12. Leprous - Bilateral
13. Falloch - Where Distant Spirits Remain
14. Vreid - V
15. Exhumed - All Guts, No Glory

In Flames - Sounds of a Playground Fading
The Unguided - HellFrost
Pain of Salvation - Road Salt 2
Insomnium - One For Sorrow
Opeth - Heritage ( very different but still amazing)
Evergrey - Glorious Collision
Draconian - A Rose for the Apocalypse

Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy and Scar Symmetry - their new albums are like the rest nothing ground breaking :S

Hm, have i listened to any 2011 metal... just the new Opeth

Now that i've given it time to sink in, i became aware that it really is one of their worst. Unique, but really halfassed.

I haven't done an opeth album ranking list for a while. Need to bring it back now that the Opeth forum's gone, haha.

1) Blackwater Park
2) Still Life
3) Morningrise
4) Orchid
5) Damnation
6) Watershed (tied with GR)
6) Ghost Reveries (tied with WS)
8) My Arms, Your Hearse
9) Heritage
10) Deliverance (although the title track is one of their best)

For the life of me i can't get into the new Insomnium, with the exception of Unsung, and i love Insomnium... not sure what it is.

New Havok has been kicking my ass for months, so that'll be on my top 10 for the year.
