I've only had the pleasure of hearing V and TDWOT, both of which I have bought, and now I'm yearning for more. The problem is a friend and fellow Symphony X fan said that the other albums are a lot worse than these two... I'd gladly hear comments on what other albums there are, what they're like and so forth. And please, don't just say which album is good and which one is bad, but please elaborate and explain.

Hehehehehehe... definitely, your friend is a kinda lost... I mean... the only "worse" SyX album is their first one... the others, "Damnation Game", and "Twilight in Olympus", are just as AMAZING as TDWOT and V are!!! OK, I own their debut-album, but it's due to the fact that I wanna have ALL SyX CDs... I even have Michael Romeo's solo CD... I'm now searching Michael Romeo instrutional video, which, is a kinda hard to find here in Brazil... so... buy "The Damnation Game" and "Twilight in Olympus"... you won't be sorry for that, I guarantee... :-)

I thought that the live disc was pretty weak and I don't own the first disc. I would rate Damnation Game and Twilight in Olympus below V and TDWoT but I would never say that they are alot worse. I made a mix disc with TiO and TDWoT and I thought it came out great!

Well, your friend is a little off base. My favorite disc happens to be The Damnation Game, even after hearing the awesome Divine Wings of Tragedy and V. Can't say why I like it so much...I guess it's because of that slightly raw production. While I'm not much of a production snob, if certain music has a certain production to it, it just sounds so much richer, even if it's not the cleanest production you can find. Oh the days of vinyl....

Sorry, got off track there. :) Anyway, sample it if you wish, but once you do, I think you'll agree that it's a must have.

Your Friend is not into Symphony X at all.... All SyX CD's Are Excellent yeah... including their 1st CD, it might not have Russell or Good production... but the Music is Very good ;) infact I enjoy Rod in the 1st album....
About Damnation Game and TiO.. pff.. BUY them NOW!

I guess i'm gonna have to buy 'em tommorow then. Maybe I'll try and borrow the debut from someone to see if it's any good. That's 7 albums on the to buy list. I'll be a poor man ere the months ends...

I must say I completely agree with this.

I started with Twilight in Olympus and it's still a damn fine album after V, I still haven't gotten around to picking up Divine Wings of Tragedy and I know when I do get it, I will be happy.

But to answer your question No, Twilight is still a damn fine album, the only thing slightly lower than V would be production. But the album is still great.

Hmm. I recently bought Twilight in Olympus, and frankly, I'm not convinced. I've listened to it about 5 times, and it doesn't strike me like V and TDWOT did, at least not yet. That said, most of the albums I really like I hated at first, and later on found them to be amazing. Such is life.

I don't know, but while I was reading what you wrote about the production I though in Time Machine - Act II: Galileo, did you listen this album?
