OK, I'm in the mood to buy a book (even though the subject may have suggested something different like gardening supplies or a trip to Equatorial Guinea) and would like a few suggestions.

Please note:

* I would prefer it to be non-fiction
* It is not to be about music or other forms of entertainment
* History is good.

Thanks

I read a lot of travel books these days, but then I dunno if you're really into travelling anyway. Bill Bryson always makes me laugh.

Winnie - sorta going off the travel books at the moment. And I don't like Bill Bryson at all - an arrogant so-and-so who ruins his books buy having big long boring bits.

Gore - ooh. :)

I have just the book for you young man... A Man on The Moon: The Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts by Andrew Chaikin. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...75878/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_3_1/026-8801201-6935614

I used to be SOOOOOOOOOOO into early space flight (Mercury, Gemini and Apollo - never really got into the Space shuttles program). This book is the best I have ever read about space flight, it truly is. Another one well worth looking at is Moon Shot - http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...76090/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2_2/026-8801201-6935614 :)

If you can, get Clive Barker's A-Z of Horror. It's much better than the TV series, and is filled to the brim with movie trivia goodness.

It's prohibitively expensive (paperback costs $45 to order from the US) but worth every penny.

Blitzy - yep, his first book is excellent! Foley Is Good isn't bad, but he carries on about the PTC too much.

Wrathy - ooh. :)

I'm toying with the idea of getting a WW2 book. Maybe. Or a British history book. Perhaps.

I don't tend to read any non-fiction at the moment, other than text books..

Maybe that'll change when I finish uni. I read heaps of fiction at the moment, it helps clear my mind.
