yeah, but there are different kinds of metal, is there not???? I would say that Borknagar has sort of a class of there own. But there is a huge difference between trash metal and black metal. Borknagar and vintersorg are both two of favorite artists but I would have a really hard time placing them into a metal catergory.

I'm glad someone brought this up... I have wondered the same thing. I think they have blackmetal influence on some of thier style but I don't consider them a blackmetal band. They kick ass either way

It's hard to say... they CERTAINLY have some BM elements... but I wouldn't put a black metal label near them! This shows how truly original they are. One of the greatest bands ever.

If I had to crudely describe them, I'd say "melodic black metal with operatic elements."
