Why is it that "most" self proclaimed metal fans consider 80's glam bands, or "hair bands" bottomfeeders? After all there was "some" musical value to what they were doing, at least at that time...

This is a bit off subject, but here are some bands I've heard called "hair bands" by self-proclaimed but idiotic "metal heads":
Slayer
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Megadeth
Morbid Angel
Cannibal Corpse
Judas Priest
Pantera (I guess they kinda were at one time)
Back to your topic, most hair bands are ridiculed because, like any over-saturated genre of music, the crap drowns out the good stuff. For every Skid Row and Motley Crue, there was a Nelson, Slaughter, Winger, and Warrant. Similarly, for every Darkthrone and Emperor, there is a Cradle of Filth, Ancient, and Will 'O' Wisp; or for every Shadows Fall and Lamb of God, there is As I Lie Dying, Atreyu, Still Remains... blah, I've more than made my point.

Considering glam is the aural equivalent of getting your dick covered in another man's shit, I'm at a loss as to why self-proclaimed metalheads don't hail it above all other genres of music.

i still listen to Poison and Bon Jovi every once in awhile. i think it's all because i grew up listening to that shit.
