I like the newer katatonia stuff (post Discouraged ones, which I hate) but can't get on with the older stuff, its cool enough and the vocals are obviously better, but the music just bores me, its like syncopated, two tone death metal.

I believe a lot of people refer to it as "Drone" doom metal. At least that's what I've heard. I like their older stuff. I guess it's a type of music you have to "get"

Old Katatonia is faaar from drone metal. And it's NOT boring at all. If you play close attention, it's much more complicated than you might think, they often use(d) very unusual chords. Brave and Murder are good examples (those are killer by the way)

I don't see how anybody who likes katatonia and doom metal can't like BMD, it's a fucking classic

i can see how someone wouldn't like dance of december souls, but that's also a killer album
