Built myself a porta-booth

It cost me a little over 50 bucks.

Looks good! I've thought about making one myself, my only concern is where the hell do you put it? What do you mount it on when a singer wants to do vocals standing up?

I think I'm just going to use an adjustable drum throne propped on my desk. It'll look super ghetto, but you can probably tell that's the least of my concerns.

Or one boom stand could hold the mic and shock-mount, another stand could hold the box.

Are those auralex or some other brand of foam?

They are Auralex. Samash sells them one sheet at a time which ended up being more than enough.

I pretty much built it to the exact specifications of this guide. The box is a whitmor cube.

I added some clips with the booth and without the booth in the original post. I added the same mild compression to both of them.

Actually makes a really nice improvement. Much fuller and warmer, more personal, which is all good for vocals.

Cool ... I definitely hear a big improvement ... the room caused this nasal-phasy effect that the booth eliminated. Sounds a lot clearer and the "body" of the voice sounds a lot fuller also.

A pity you're going to die, though.
