Burzum - The Fallen (2011)

Huh? Really? How can anyone not love this album every song is catchy and awesome. I never found myself bored, all the long songs went by so quick and this will be hard to top this year. Good Job!

Can't help but feel that this is his Traced in Air. Whenever those clean vocals start playing I can't help but feel that I am not listening to metal. Belus was much better IMHO.

Valen (Fallen) is this album's Glemselens Elv. Except heavier and more hypnotic. OMFG this is sooooo good.

I've had the album on repeat for about 3 hours now. This is just fantastic.

I agree. This is excellent. The clean vocals are a little weird at first and caught me off guard, but his voice is so hypnotic and calming. I can't stop listening to it.

Just heard the samples

They blow copious amounts of goat penis (which for a black metal band may actually be a compliment)

I'm going back to listening to the new Kenny G album. Now that's some grim, inverted shit

Why bother going to all the hassle of signing up for a forum just to post that shit? Don't you have anything useful to do?
Have a wank.

As a counter, I don't believe it has to do specifically with the aging of the person as it does the aging of the person's mentality. When both of the dudes in question were young, I get the feeling they were much more full of anger, hatred and rage. Now, I get the feeling, similarly, that they're probably tired of a lot of things. They got their rage out and now I think they're probably sick of fighting and more about becoming aware of their own plight and transforming that into a kind of more objective view of suffering and triumph.

That's how I felt when I saw Tom play live with Triptykon, anyway...I get the feeling a similar thing happened with Varg. They've both been through some shit.

Another one who comes to mind is Abbath with the Between Two Worlds album which I fucking love too.

Worst album Ive heard so far in 2011. Belus was much better then this, and Belus was not a masterpiece.

and Belus was not a masterpiece.
Not surprised in the fucking slightest, but I'm actually debating giving you the dubious honor of being the first ever user I've put on ignore here, so I don't have to read any more of your (generally shit) opinions.

It`s amazing that ArneZ opinions on music are ABSOLUTELY opposite to mines. I don't remember him posting album in the currently kicking thread that I like. It's like, amazing that we both listen to metal yet we don't agree on one band/release. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing personal against him (except maybe he's a faggot) and I definately don't wanna argue with him because that would clearly be pointless regarding our views on quality of music are 99 percent different. I just ignore his posts and wonder what is the criteria for him to check some album out and like/dislike it. Its fascinating really and I consider it the mystery of our time.

Sedond on this list is Systematic Riffage. (Again, nothing personal, I'm sober).

Tbh, i agree with Arnez. Belus was not a masterpiece. I thought it was average. I still need to hear the new one though.
