Last night I was at the Priest/Anthrax show at Nation in Washington D.C. During Anthrax's set some guy/guys had a scuffle with John Bush which I honestly don't know much details about, even though I was on the first row. All I saw from my side of the stage was: Bush cussed at some guy/guys, the band stopped playing, Frankie Bello joined Bush in shouting back at the guy/guys and telling them "Come get some !!!". Finally, I saw Bush taking a blow at the guy/guys that I'm not sure landed on him/them.

This went on for like ten minutes while Scott Ian had the most shocked face I've ever seen. Scott just stood there, motionless, exactly as he was when the band stopped playing. He just couldn't believe what was going on. Security took the guy/guys away while Bush was telling us fans that remained there after such a spectacle, that one of the guys was a "pussy motherfucker", that they were "having a bad day" and that "he could take him". Some people screamed back in support, but mostly everyone was just in shock for what they had witnessed. The band went on and although they ripped as always, I think many were left with a sour taste, as Bush wasn't professional enough in a tense situation and ended up doing an Axl Rose/Seb Bach "I'm so tough" thing.

I've been an Anthrax fan since "Among", had seen and met Bush and think he's a VERY cool and pleasant guy, so I hope he doesn't fall as low again as he did last night. The guy that was acting like an asshole probably doesn't remember anything since he was most likely a drunk, but I doubt that the true fans that were there will forget Bush throwing punches and leaving a bad impression on an otherwise amazing set.

Thanks,
Madkill

P.S. I hope that John Bush hasn't been hanging out with Billy Milano, bad habits are contagious.

I'm not surprised that John Bush was in a fight, for he has been known to be fairly vocal(Lol, he is the vocalist). But no shit! Frankie is a very nice calm type of person, so if he was joining in with Bush then there must have been something to bitch at those guys in the audience. Hope it didn't ruin the show for you.

I think you are being way too hard on John Bush. I couldn't see what happened exactly, my first indication of a problem was when John threw down the mike which surprised me - but then when I saw some idiot in the crowd was the source of the problem, I was behind the band 100%. The whole lot of them got up to the front of the stage screaming and pointing at that moron to come up and put his money where his big mouth is. When security threw him out into the street there were tremendous cheers (myself included, with a big F U for good measure).

In my opinion he handled it quite well - within a few minutes you'd be hard pressed to tell something like that had just gone on. John was INTENSE for the entire set and giving his all - and then some joker fronts him? John had every right to be pissed as all hell.

We love you John - Anthrax rules!!

Something like that would NEVER lower my opinion of John Bush. Okay, so NOTHING could, but I mean, I don't think any less of Frank or Scott either. (Drummers are lucky, they sit in the back and just wait for the guys to start playing again.) Now, if John got all whiny and saying he's gonna leave and the show's over cause of one prick, THAT would make me think he was being unprofessional. And if he just kept security away and beat the crap out of the guy himself, THAT WOULD RULE!!! Maybe it's just me though...

Hey, I don't think that was unprofessional of BUSH at all.....granted I don't know the details. Obviously, the
ass goblin struck a nerve w/ BUSH and the rest of the
band for it to go down like that. JOHN BUSH, YOU'RE MY KIND OF PEOPLE! Don't take any shit from a slack jawed uncle fucker!
I agree w/ HEIDI....he should have layed down a beatin'
on those responsible for interrupting the set. Please, never mention BUSH in a sentence w/ AXL or BACH ever again....that's just wrong.

What an idiot fan. He buys a fucking ticket just to bitch a John Bush. Can anyone say, "Psycho"? If that fan thinks that Anthrax sucks since Joey left the band, then he shouldn't attended the concert in the first place.

And heh, I'm not suprised that Bush got into a fight. With a last name like Bush, having a group named "Anthrax", and being located at Washington D.C., something REAL BAD is bound to happen :).

gl has a very weird point. HOWEVER I just like to type BUSH in big bold letters. Heidi searches for reasons to say "penis" and relate it to ANTHRAX.....I just type stuff like "BUSH rules!" ...and I chuckle like a 7 th grader. Oh well, all new posts by me won't have any double meanings for BUSH. I PROMISE!

I was there as well, at Nations, and I didn't see Bush actually throw any punches, he was just damned pissed--it sounded like, from what he was screaming at some asshole in the crowd, that some guy flipped him off. They put in an intense show--Anthrax hasn't lost any steam, and now that Metal is back, it's good to see them firing it up--"Bring the Noize" brought down the house. As for the fight, there was definitely one near me, but that happened later, during the Judas Priest set, and it was a couple of morons just to my right.

I don't know if Anthrax threw some fists later or out of my view, but they were certainly angry (Anthrax, angry? Nooooo waaaayyyy). I don't think it detracted that much from the show, though that sort of stupid fan behavior is better done without. These guys make lots of bucks, but you also can tell they're into metal, and one reason is because the fans are too.

And in my personal BIBLE OF METAL I read to you....from ST. IAN BUSH "Respect the band, and you shall know respect from henceforth band mentioned! Nay! Shall we persecute the band for no longer sounding like we remember. Thy shall smite down and persecute those persons responsible for disrupting thine set of henceforth band mentioned. So says thy word of JEEBUS, SON
OF METAL, FAN OF ANTHRAX." Powerful words rom many years agone......

damn! i was at that show last night, fuckin awesome!!! i saw the fight from the 2nd level...what happened? did the asshole just flick him off or what? anyway i thought it was real nice to see such a fucking great show, there just arent too many good live bands anymore!! Anthrax and Judas Priest are deffinatly 2 of them! (and pantera) :)

and that sounds like a lame excuse for me. Just to clarify something, I AM an Anthrax fan and like I stated on my previous post, I have met John and he's quite a friendly guy and very down to earth. But the potential for disaster was there, what if the asshole that started the whole mess would have taken up the challenge AND went on the stage ??? A riot ??? Cancelling the show without seeing Priest ??? Just because John was having a "bad day" ???

He should had just pointed out to security who the dumbass was and move on. And if it was about the crowd not getting into their set, as someone suggested, he obviously wouldn't help their cause by getting into a ridiculous fight. Scott looked REALLY embarrased by the whole situation and at least it was nice to listen to him joke about it near the end of their set(Ripper from Priest did too).

So, my opinion about John hasn't changed, he's a very good singer and cool person ... but last night he lost it and embarrased himself and the rest of the band.

no he didnt...did he? i must have missed it...john really should have just let it go but i get really tired of all these pussy bands out today, its nice to see a real hard ass up on the stage for once

... go check out Iced Earth, In Flames, Jag Panzer, Dimmu Borgir and The Crown this spring. All great bands, all will be playing the States in the coming months and I guarantee you they won't be looking for fights if someone flips them the finger, they'll be too busy playing great music.

oh yeah, he really should have ignored it, but i understand his frustration with the ass hole in the audience, if the dumbass doesnt like anthrax or whatever, he shouldnt have been there....but you are right, john should just keep singing....i feel bad for scott he looked so embarassed, like "here we go again" i liked his little comment after john cooled off though :)

Alot of people go to shows and flip off the band but this guy was standing there motionless with his finger up in the air and staring at JBush dead in the eye for at least 3 songs. It was disprupting us fans in the pit, plus he's a fag. And JBush did throw a punch or two at him as well. Rob Caggiano was pissed as hell, Frank, and Charlie weren't having none of it. I was glad to see that guy go afterwards and if I ever see him again at any show in DC, I'm gonna kick his ass.
