Calling motorcyclists

I'll have to seek out a bike when I get back. I'm 23yo (will be 24 when I get the bike)....still $200? Doesn't sound too bad. Yeah it's dead cheap riding a bike. I spend about $2 per week on petrol here!

What's the situation with weaving through traffic, and getting to the front of the pack at traffic lights etc? I do it all the time here, but I should imagine it's a tad different in oz!

Sounds good, Southy!

No everyone does that here, It's annoying as hell and then the dudes on motorcycles crack a shit when you nearly kill em.

What pisses me off is people on normal bikes who lean on your car at traffic lights, I reverse and go forward and try to knock em off, they wear to much spandex as well, I suspect Trent rides a bike.

I'd better clarify it.......I don't weave between moving traffic, just try to get to the front when traffic's stopped (like every other rider here). Weaving between moving traffic is asking for death!

How much does bike gear cost? ie. gloves, helmet, whatever else

Is going for your Ps much harder than your Ls?

What I paid;
Gloves - $50
Sealed helmet - $150
Open faced helmet - $80
Jacket - $300

Legally, all you need to wear is a helmet. But I would strongly advice getting both a good jacket and gloves too, as you'll totally freeze on a cold day without them.

I've gotta get some boots and waterproof pants yet for winter.

My nephew, myself, my sister and my bike. :)

You didnt pay much for ya helmet ya cheap bastard Sydo :p

hmm my Jacket cost shitloads..my helmet cost $480 (still a cheapy i might add :OMG:)..boots are me work ones, thats all i can think to add to the thread, oh and nice bike Sydo :D

So that's what you look like! Nice bike! What kind is it? Your nephew's damn good looking, Sydo. :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll get a closed helmet, because an open one is bloody freezing when it's raining! I'm gonna get a leather jacket here before I return (much cheaper here), which hopefully will be good enough. What will waterproof pants cost you?

Winmar - My bikes a '93 Yamaha XV 250. Or a Virago which everone seems to call them. The newer models have a chunkier fuel tank and a few other minor changes, and in my opinion look a lot better.

My advice regarding a helmet is to get both - open face and closed. An open face helmet is freezing during winter, but come summer it's all you'll wear.

np; right to left and below!
