Tyranny, Longing for Dawn, you might like Monolithe, surprised no one has mentioned, "Streams from Heaven"--Thergothon. And of course, the mighty Esoteric. These bands, along with some others, are the epitome of "funeral" doom or "Extreme" doom.

Your right, BlackLodge, Ahab are pretty fuckin' good. I darken the room, close my eyes, put "Call of the Wretched Sea" on and I'm on that boat lookin' for that fuckin' whale. This album certainly conveys what it is. Remember, "Leviathan" by Mastedon? A good album in it's own right, but Ahab, blows it away. Just my opinion.
