Can Anyone Recommend Some More Doom Metal?

If you want something heavier, try diSEMBOWELMENT. Something slightly more melodic/gothic, Saturnus.

for Funeral Doom...Skepticism, Thergothon, Unholy, Gallileous, Esoteric, Mournful Congregation, Evoken, Ahab, Mordor.

Also fully recommend Khanate, Sunn O))), Burning Witch, and Grief.

I wouldn't classify Agalloch as doom. Virgin Black have some elements, but are more Avant-Garde in their sound.

And definitely not Green Carnation :p

I know. I was just trying to come up with some recommendations that might be in closely surrounding genres...

ya know.

Yeah! Sunn O))) are great! I got 'Black One' last week.:)

Sunn o))) thats one band and music style that I just cannot understand, could you some listeners please enlighten me a bit and tell me what's the thing in that kind of music that makes you like it?

I disagree..well to a certain extent. Green Carnation's first album was very doomish. Second album also pretty doom inspired..but sure, the rest is too far away from the doom genre to be called doom. I would check them out if I was looking for doom inspired music..

Forgive me, I've only heard recent material from them I suppose.

Gothic Doom (or what ever it's called):

Daylight Dies
Katatonia
Swallow the Sun
My Dying Bride
Anathema
I'll add a few more Jake that you should DEFINITELY check out:

Isole
Officium Triste
Rapture (from Finland, not the gay pop band)
The Foreshadowing
Type O Negative
Funeral - the album From These Wounds

Hmm, lets say that it completely mesmerizes you.
The only problem is that you have to be in a REALLY specific mood for music like that, so I can pretty much only listen to it like twice a year x)

Virgin Black are also fantastic. I do like that GC album (1 track cds rule) but...how is it doom???

And RE Sunn O))), you have to listen to it differently than most other music, instead of listening for melodys, rhythm, riffs etc etc you have to focus more on the sounds and atmosphere. Weed helps too...

Virgin Black are pure untamed melodic death metal to the corez with a hint of black metalz, and a side of pure doom!
