Chango Studios

I honestly really dig most of the stuff chango does. For the fact they have there own style. Natural guitars +1. I think there vocals come out great. Even though it sounds really fake at times. Drums are super panned including cymbals. They always have pretty cool effects IMO. Do they use there own drum samples? Does anyone know.

Plus i am curious about what joey said!

i believe joey just meant that Chango Studios doesn't have the best reputation(for multiple reasons). Check out the other thread about this studio and you'll see that there are some other people on here that have problems with them as well.

This thread seems to be wayyy more positive toward chango than the other thread

from what i hear from several crappy small "local" bands, that studio will tell the bands they will shop their stuff to labels for you if you record there. I don't know if they actually do or not, but it seems like a pretty lame gimmick considering most of the bands they say this to wouldn't have a chance in hell of getting signed.

There is a studio a state below me that does the label shopping gimmick. Drives me crazy bands fall for this kind of thing. I have recorded like 3 or 4 bands that got sucked into it and all of them had nothing but bad things to say about them. Im not going to name drop but anyone around probably knows the studio. Also they do a Pay us and well manage you thing....WHAT A JOKE!

Also this band was texting me this morning for some mixing and they mentioned something about using Chango, which is kinda why im in this thread. Ive never heard of the studio till today.

you know what.......i completely take back everything i said about Chango studios. For some reason the studio that came to mind was the one "a state below you" that pulls all those gimmicks to get bands. I don't really have anything bad to say about Chango. I guess i should have googled it before saying negative things lol

Part of this confusion must be because of the 24 hour shift i worked today/yesterday. 28 hours and i still haven't gone to bed for some reason.:zombie:

As for Chango's recordings, i'm not a big fan of the mixes(particularly the drums), but i dig a lot of the production stuff they do.They seem to be getting some decent bands through there

I'm not really too sure on the history of the studio, or even know the names of the producers. They seemed to have popped up out of nowhere and started recording all these big bands. Might look into youtube a little more

I recorded a band a few months back that got picked up by Chango Management. Cameron mixed a song for them, then ended up remixing another song we had previously done.as far as I know he didn't charged em a dime, he seems to just dig the band and is helping them out, pretty cool of him, especially considering how busy the guy is.

lol dude I think I'm editing the drums for that band that got a hold of you for mixing right now....

Im not sure if its the same place but I would almost bet its Chin Studios they totally raped one of my past bands shortly after i quit. only throwing the name out there to try and save some fellow forum mates if at all possible

Can't seem to find the 'other thread'

Yeah, I know a band that went to Chin, came out with bullshit recordings and nothing to show for driving far as hell and spending all their money.

I was in the chin thread i believe.

Dont know these guys personally but a good friend of mine, Justin Thomas, also a producer and mixer used to own the studio they are in now. It used to be called gridlock. Justin produced Dark New Day and Faktion to name a few. He had a ton of great gear and decided one day to sell the studio and move into other business ventures. He still mixes and is killer. Chango guys do a great job from what i've heard.

Cameron, my buddy Brett Hestla (Dark New Day) and another friend of mine Brock Berryhill all have studios in the same warehouse area in casselberry FL. All of them do great work. Its about 15 mins from audiohammer we all keep in touch, borrow gear etc... im sure the chango guys are super cool too.

I did some work on a few things in that room before it became chango. Jason and i considered cutting drums there a few times but it never worked out. Its certainly no palace but the place sounds suprisingly good considering the setup...

they really get my respect for recording songs with lyrics such as " look at me, im on a boat, mothafucker i'm on a boat"
listening to that shit over and over again must be mindblowing

You do know it is a cover of a song that's supposed to be funny/not serious right? And even if it wasn't, the studio (or all studios) would probably not make any money at all if they turned down bands with shitty lyrics.

These mixes make me feel sort of weird. Probably all the phase stuff discussed here earlier.
