Hey guys,

Here's the official press release:

Chicago Powerfest Welcomes Paganfest Tour

CRJ Productions, in conjunction with FM Entertainment, are very pleased to welcome the Paganfest tour, featuring Ensiferum, Turisas, Tyr and Eluveitie, as the first annual festival “kick-off party,” Thursday, May 1st.

Commented festival organizers, CRJ Productions: "We’ve been tossing around the idea of a Thursday night "kick-off party" for a few years now and we’re really excited to finally make it a reality with this killer tour package! We’re hoping that this is the beginning of what will be an annual Powerfest tradition and that we are able bring a cool tour through town to start the festivities in high gear, every year, moving forward! Special thanks go out to Frank at FM for helping us to make this happen!"

Tickets for the Thursday night "kick-off party" will go on-sale Saturday, December 8th, at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Pearl Room box office. Information regarding on-sale date for the rest of the festival, including 2 and 3 day passes will be made available once the Friday and Saturday night lineups are confirmed sometime early in the new year.

This only further entices me. Unless something gets announced for closer to me I will be at the Chicago show whether I go to Powerfest or not.

I wouldn't doubt if these are the best three days of my life. If it ends up being too late to book a plane ticket before I can afford to "never flown before I don't know how these things work" I will drive to Chicago.

Kick ass shit here. This is killing 2 birds with one stone for me since a) I was set on going to powerfest, and b) I really wanted to see the Paganfest tour somewhere, since I highly doubt anything with the name "Paganfest" will be accepted into a Utah venue.

Sweet, based on this announcement I just listened to some Turisas on iTunes. Sounds sweet! Do the other bands on the bill sound like this?

Now, if we can just get Testament on to the official festival, we'll be SET!

Or even better, does the VIP pass from sponsorship get you into Thursday's show as well? :saint:

(My hunch is no, but it never hurts to ask!)

Ken

Actually, yes!! All sponsors will have access to the Thursday night show...plus VIP parking, IN/OUT privileges & VIP Balcony access. Because this is technically a separate show, although under the Powerfest umbrella, these will be the only sponsorship perks given for the Thursday night show.

Thanks for bringing that up, Ken. Hopefully, this might entice some more potential sponsors. ;)

Not sure what their tour plans are for 2008.

Dragonlord are touring in April in Europe with Trouble.
Might be tight then to come off that, and go right to P'Fest, though I am sure anything is possible.

Maybe Trouble would like to be a part of Pagan Fest!
(Hey, they have toured with King D and Slayer in the past!)

With a (possible) new Testament album, you'd think Dorklord would be put on the back burner.

I saw them at Milwaukee Metalfest.. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Really weird mix with TROUBLE.
I assume their label (ESCAPI) put that together.

Personally, Testament would not excite me that much, though I know there are a large number of you younger guys and gals who have probably never seen them, so there would certainly be some demand.
