Children of Bodom - Cover Thread

What are you talking about? There are no harmonics in there...unless you mean the intro? Which was not actually a serious recording, but I ended up liking it so I kept it. I did too many harmonics on purpose and that's actually 3 different recordings mixed into one, which is why it's clipping so badly.

mmh... artificial harmonics? squirrils? don't know how its called in english...

Yeah, you must mean the intro then.

Well, read my edit, I did them like that on purpose. Someone commented me after when I posted it the first time and said I'd been listening to Zakk Wylde too much.

Now I can hear it, and IMO it's quite cool, although there are maybe too many harmonics in the first part, You definitely had heard way too much Zakk Wylde that day, But still cool one. The solo is really good too.

And, following up with my goal to get all done, there we go with two more:

ROTW - Needled 24/7 intro (lead is quite :erk:, but I don't think I'll get it better with my actual skills)
ROTW - Every Time I Die solo(the lead is recorded twice and panned, and even though sometimes is not exactly the same, I think it went pretty good)

man all this recording takes time (especially if your computer fucks up when you plug in an external sound device and open up a recording program). I don't know how you guys keep up with every ROTW. But cheers to those of you who do :kickass:

And I can finally contribute something as well :) Just did do two Downfall Intro recordings, and I can't decide which one to submit....the first one I think is slightly better playing, but the 2nd one I think has slightly better tone...help me decide, yes?

thanks for giving you opinion :) I think my mind is set on the first one too. I'll just upload it again when Tim gets back on here. And Mitch, if ya want you can upload it to the soundlick page too (thank you in advance).

btw reaperscythe, check your soundclick page! I added you as a friend (and you play really well!)

I think the first one is the best guitar tone you achieved so far, sounds really good! :headbang:

The proper played slower parts sound really great on your violin, the fast parts are very sloppy.
I look forward to the point you can play all these solos tight, that will be damn awesome.

Hey guyz, I wanna hear your opinion. Here's my cover of Blooddrunk keyb and guitar solo. Let me know what you think before I waste my time recording the vid for teh contest =)

sorry but it sounds horrible. really really horrible.I don't want to be an ass but I think that you don't will get a place better tahn 500 or sth. It's cool that you try to play it with a viloin but your recording and playing is to bad for the contest.

really? that's pretty cool. Listening to them again, I have no idea why I thought the 2nd tone was a bit better...I think its cuz when you're recording for a couple of hours and testing out different tones, your ears go a little wacky. Like you need to take a break from listening to them, and then maybe 30 min later come back and judge them with fresh ears.

lol dude. you could've just stopped at "I don't want be an ass." Adding the 2nd part of that wasn't necessary.

^I'm fine with it I like harsh criticism, and like ppl being honest. At least it lets me know what to improve.
