Classics Reborn

I tend to lean toward blanket statements as not having much weight lol. But who knows? Not me! The only thing I can say is that Glenn worked hard as hell and really stepped up his game for Painkiller and after, while KK (for whatever reason) didn't.

Blanket statements are a PITA because they tend to have nothing. It's like suggesting a particular band is the best in the world but never saying why you think that when people ask. Totally meaningless.
I agree we don't really know what happened behind the scenes and even if Glenn or Rob write a book that contradicts KK we still wont necessarily know the truth but Glenn really does seem like the guy who's put in the effort and the time and continually done so.

If Rob's book comes to fruition I'll definitely read it and hope he doesn't write a KK type book. Although I don't think he will he's got too much other stuff to talk about.

Rob's always said he didn't want to write a bio but apparently now he's in talk with a publisher an co-authour. I'd be interested to hear how Rob talks of his time as a solo artist since KK claims it was a failure, I'm sure Rob doesn't see it that way.

Yeah KK didn't mention the four Halford albums specifically he mentioned that it was a failed solo career that included an album with Fight that had very poor sales. I don't know the sales figures but the four Halford albums were pretty good even if one was basically Christmas songs. However the first Fight album seemed to get quite a good reception considering many fans thought he was breaking up one of the most influential metal bands ever. The second and third Fight album were not as good IMO but I still wouldn't have called them a failure.

I remember there being a lot of buzz with good reception anytime Rob released something. Don't know anything about the sales figs but they weren't great for anyone at that time.

Fight got some decent airplay on the independent stations here. I don't remember Halford being played that much but Fight toured here less than 6 month after the album was released and it was a well supported tour.

I don't think Halford toured here but JP have toured here three times, I've seen them once. Fight toured once and I've got the CD, the T-shirt and the signed drumstick I think I gave Fight more attention too :)

This is one of the reasons I think KK's hold on the JP name and how he thinks he should be automatically re-instated due to longevity means SFA. Sure he was around from early on but he was not in the original JP, they chose not to have him. Even he admits that he wasn't big on the band at the start but he wanted to join them because the name was great. It took something like a year between him trying out for JP and actually getting on the band. To me he weaselled his way into the band and then stole their name...but maybe my thoughts of the past differ a little to KK :)

KK should get a whole other book talking shit about this interview lol. Love the title of the forward Ian wrote " Dawn of the metal gods" they really get off on that shit huh?! I think it's fucking gay. Whether someone feels they are or aren't isn't my issue. It's calling yourselves that over and over that erks me. That's what rappers and divas do. Let the fans call you that. Don't do it yourselves.

KK's next book is about how Ian now talks to the media and how in his day Ian just remained silent and accepted things because he wasn't a songwriter and didn't feel he had the right to talk to the media.

Then eventually Ian will be responsible for the shortest Blabber headline and article ever, it will simply say "Fuck You KK"

This is about the most interesting KK interview I have read. Not because of what is said, it's no different to all the other interviews, but because of how it comes off. It's easy to blame the german/english translation on the way some of it happened but the interviewer is basically trying to rehash the shit that's been all over the news. At times I think KK handles his answers more human like than I've seen in any other interview since the book came out. There is still some typical KK arrogance, but over all he comes off as less pissed off and if anything the interviewer shows what is wrong with the media today because they just want headlines and controversy.
