Classics Reborn

Yeah I agree overall KK came off ok. Blabber really tried to stir it up with that headline this time. It's kind of what I expect from Germans. They have no tact they are very point blank with their questions. The only thing that was a little dickish about KK in that entire thing to me was whining about not being able to make decisions for the band. Why would he be able to? He quit...twice.
It seems weird that Scott isn't a member after all this time though. Plus he really added to the band. The drums on Painkiller still stand out.

Yeah KK still hasn't learned not to be a complete dick, but it appears he's getting better slowly :)

The whole 'board' thing really does seem to create stories of it's own. I find it weird that he didn't quit the board too (especially when he sold his songs) but however it works he keeps talking about it as if it gives him some god given right within the band and the decisions made. Now either their board is structured different and KK gets ignored but he's powerless to stop them or like all I know boards they vote on specific things that concern the company and majority rules, but whatever happens they aren't making these decisions without one person. They might make the decision to add an extra show somewhere, or put a bonus track on an album but money decisions and decisions about the company over the top of the band would be a joint board decision. If they are ignoring his vote then he's a pissweak board member not standing up for himself. At least that how boards in this country work.

As for Scott not being a member I think there has been a push by a lot of bands over the last 20 years to employ people rather than make them partners. I remember Kerry getting abused for suggesting he wouldn't allow new members into the Slayer company back when Dave quit. There was talk that Rob was employed and not part owner of Metallica at one stage. Then of course there has always been the Gene and Paul Vs Ace and Peter stories. Its not always an easy thing but I do think bands with long term members, original members benefit from not splitting up the 'company' when new an potentially short term players come in, but there is also the side that suggests inviting them in would be an incentive.

It's a bit like Ian Hill, he's on the JP board (I believe) but he's never gotten song royalties because he chose not to write, KK did claim they would have been happy to include him but it was his choice not too write. As a board member he would have gotten the same perks as the others, but he still got paid less because of the writing credits. KK claimed that was why he always wanted to tour, and it may be the case, but for Scott maybe it's worth more to be a hired (permanent) gun and has less stress than a company director.

However KK is not an original member so maybe he shouldn't be on the board :)

It is weird, what kind of decision making power does he think he deserves still? He quit the band but more than that he sold the writes to his music. He's gotten as far away as someone can go but still have a title.

I guess I wasn't really thinking as far along as a business partner. I was just thinking about someone saying: hey Scott is a member of Judas Priest. Lol not to deep :p. Like when Testament hired Drover to fill in, he was just a temporary hired gun, although he uses it on his resume as if he was in the band!

Lol no! he's not an original member is he!? Nor did he come up with the name Judas Priest. At least according to Atkins.

It's a weird thing and obviously no one but the band knows the exact terms of the contracts and board rules but the one thing that stands out as different to most boards is that usually when one board member speaks out like he has they get removed from the board. Seems to be both side of the argument still have good reasons to keep KK around.

Oh for me in that regards Scott is a member and I don't care what KK or anyone else thinks. I thought KK was talking about making Scott and equal partner in the band not just an equal band member.

If anything KK plotted to get into a band with the name Judas Priest. He clearly states that he saw the name on the side of a van and said he liked it so much he wanted to be in that band. From memory Ian was in that band before him.

Lol, there ya go KK is a bitter idiot. Maybe he's not on the board? But is a member I guess.

Well we can't expect KK to be sensible, or even close to it, for more than one day in a row :) It does seem like the gloves are coming off now and both Ian and Ritchie have things to say.

Bands have been set up as companies with boards for years and years yet for some reason this JP board has been spoken about regularly for nearly 12 months. I'm sure other bands have what some would consider contentious board members, some might not have what many consider the right board members but while the world knows SFA about the inner workings of JP board it comes up in every article. I give KK credit for being able to make something no one else really knows about news and keeping it in the news but honestly unless the entire thing is made public (and it might be if one knows where to look) then the fight is really stupid. The media taking sides is even sillier.

Haha if you're not a member after 30 yeas you better be getting paid!

Ritchie now claiming he hasn't been paid a wage in 12 years seems to indicate he's not simply an employee of the company. Now if KK was part of the board you'd think he'd know that but he's claimed otherwise. None of it really makes sense any more.

He chased the van before he invented leather and studs :) His claim to the JP name is worth about as much his claim to the Black Sabbath name. Sure he played with some of the members of Earth for a short time before they were Black Sabbath but KK was there.

Yeah I can't say I've heard anything about a board from any other band. Way to make drama KK!

Oh I forgot about the other dick thing he said in that interview with the German. How's he think he's gonna get back into Priest talking shit about Rob's solo albums?!. Wtf dude.

Way for the media to fall into the KK trap :)

I can't believe he claims to be a friend of Rob and shits on his albums like he does. Sure they weren't JP albums but being different was part of the reason Rob wanted to go solo. Shitting on them because he doesn't like them is no better than a Justin Timberlake fan shitting on JP albums.

HA! I skimmed the article but somehow missed the part about it being an Aussie label. Skid Row has to spread their shit around lol.

Guess those free gigs at the pizza shop really paid off :) Onto bigger and better things, today Pizza shop, tomorrow a packed tea room of CWA ladies.

Yeah man KK is just slinging shit before his brain even knows what his mouth is saying. It's like he just can't help himself. He wants to start shit so bad.

I know but for the purpose of my joke he didn't :p
Wait KK played with some Earth members? I thought it was the guy? I can't keep up lol.

KK Timberlake. He's about as macho as Timberlake in those studs!
He didn't have to say that shit about Rob's solo work at all. Plus Rob's solo stuff was pretty good.

Justin to join JP as KK's permanent replacement, he can't play guitar but it's okay they can use a backing tape :)

I agree he didn't need to shit on them and it's a shitty thing to do to a friend. If anything it adds to the stories that KK and Rob didn't get along, something KK denies, he claimed they fought like brothers but were still a family. But it's a shitty way to treat family.

I don't understand the mentality of doing it. I understand having a bit of fun and throwing a few pieces of dirt around with mates but actively seeking the media to spread such stories to me just doesn't have value. He hasn't made his book a best seller and he doesn't need the albums sales, he's just made himself look like a dick. It's only the die hard, set in stone, JP can't be JP without KK fans that even give a shit about him now.

Yeah KK invented Black Sabbath :) It was only jamming from memory no official band or anything. It was at a time where most of those people grew up together. He started school (grade school or whatever they call it at about age 5) with Ian, then as they got older Ian moved into bands KK just played a shitty old guitar. Then by the time KK thought he was ready for a band Ian had been in several and they had already start JP. KK's band at the time (I can't remember the name) was going nowhere fast but part of that time before he and Ian actually started talking KK was playing with a few other people.

Oh right the pizza shop! It's all coming together for them! :D
Did MC play those shows yet?

That pizza shop also had Phil Anselmo and his band play, so it's an important shop. Forget Madison Square Gardens, forget O2 Arena in London, the next place bands will be talking about is a free gig at a pizza shop in Sydney!

No I think it's August they are here.
