Classics Reborn

It's always been here too and every damn item was taxed at a different rate, used to be a real bastard trying to work out tax on computer sale when it was 22% on hardware, 17.5% on peripherals and as low as 0.2% on software. But in 2000 they brought in a good and services tax which put 10% on everything but essential items, however for some reason tampons etc were considered a luxury item not an essential item and they attracted a tax where as rubbers didn't. Here's to forward thinking and progressive governments :)

About 4 years ago ours came up with the mantra "Good Government starts today"
They say tomorrow never comes, well this government is proof today never comes as well.

"But right after this, as soon as we end this, Ozz is gonna continue on with Zakk Sabbath. You know, Oz is kind of familiar with the material. I think it'll be easy to switch. Without a doubt."
Love the way Zakk just doesn't take things too seriously, some of the lines he's dropped in interviews for this tour have been brilliant.

I've also gotta get me one of them beanies he's wearing in the video.

And hide those wonderful horns? No way. If I actually wore beanies I'd definitely get one. I've actually been considering it for a while just so my beanie is better than the kids.

Talk about reborn, I could be reborn with that kind of cash!

I suppose I'm not that surprised that such a fee is paid. In 93 GNR got paid a million for each of the two gigs they did in Aus, nearly 30 years on with inflation and egos I expect costs to rise and Donnington is a fucken big place. I don't know how many bands were on the line up for Download UK but if it's anything like Download we used to get there could be 20 bands or more. By the time you pay one band 6 Mill then have to pay all the other bands a fee you have to make an absolute shitload of money before you even break even. Download UK must be worth a fortune.

Haha, another story says Slash had to pay his missus $6.6 mill to settle the divorce. She should have just played some music at Donnington :)

Yeah seriously. They must rake it in, but I didn't think they pulled in that much!

I would suggest that such a festival couldn't run at a loss but AJ Maddah who ran Soundwave in this country for 11 years is proof that it can, especially if you don't report the loss.

Actually looking at AJ's stats I guess it does show how much Download UK could be worth. Soundwave 2015 was held in four states with more than 60 bands and he reportedly walked out owing more than $11million to bands alone. Even with that he still came back in 2016 with a three state show which failed badly but the exact money he was left owing from that is not disclosed. The biggest event was 95 bands on eleven stages and he still had that event visit 5 states. I guess it shows that paying one band $6million on a really good line up is feasible.

That's true and having a good dunny is in the benefit of everyone from the pampered star and his delicate tushy, through to the people in close proximity, right down to the cleaners. Really GNR should be praised for such a selfless request.
