COB Live Concert DVD 2012

Last friday K-Man came to talk with some of the girls in the front row before the gig in Qstock and said that recording the DVD in Wacken is not going to happen for some reason or another. Its not due to the band. Anyway, we'll have to wait until Wacken to be certain but this is what I heard.

I don't know why but I actually saw this coming. Too bad for those who prepared the trip. One has to admire the level of up-to-date information by this band, their sound guy talked to some girls in the front row  Sometimes I wonder if they know they have a fan community.

What the fuck is going on seriously, the Hypocrisy tour got cancelled, the SKO video got banned, and now their live DVD is not fucking happening? Wacken would've been great with the gig booked midnight, outdoor venue and hundred thousand strong crowd. FUCK.

I was wondering about that as at the Orlando show they said they were recording and it said it on their facebook page...or at least I was told it was on their facebook page.

Maybe they need to practise so they can add some different songs to the DVD, instead of what they are playing now.

Hmmmmmmm... maybe they try to record songs from a few different shows and release some kind of compilation, two songs from each show or something like that - would fit to the photobook idea, "COB impressions from all over the world" or something...???

See...I think that would be an awesome idea.

I also think they should record every shows audio direct from soundboard and sell it on line or something. That way we can all have that show we went to on cd or at least an mp3. I know I would buy it, and I have a feeling lots of other people would. Who doesn't want something to remember there shows by.

I truly hope they're not going to record this latest setlist with 10 similar songs as CRY. They have to understand to make the diversity, and include at least Chokehold, I keep repeating it but it's honestly so amazing live. But Kal said the cancelling of the Wacken recording didn't have anything to do with the band... so they were prepared for recording there.

Too much drama going around ,I just want the SKO video :<
And a recorded COB show would be awesome :3

So here's the next shows... I wonder if the DVD recording will take place on one of these? Too bad there's no Japan even if they're in Oceania. But anyway I'd rather see the gig recorded at an exotic country rather than Europe. At least fans will be different color if nothing else, lol.

And I hope they include a lot of footage from the tours from these weirdass countries so we can get have more inside feel. And a super fresh setlist.

I just listened through the Wacken 2011 audio that was released in good quality and I fear for a new DVD if the playing is as bad as it is here. Alexi has to be taking the piss surely... he really needs to straighten up and practice cause this was a bit embarrassing at some parts. The last DVD his playing was pretty tight...

where's that audio?

Just FYI. The video and audio that you see from the Wacken show was done in full by the festival themselves. Mainly I direct this towards the comments about the audio. It was mixed and recorded by some dude or dudes in a truck somewhere near the stage, they most likely know little of the way the band should sound. And in defence of the random audio guy/s in the recording truck... He/they did it on the fly, so not bad really considering. That is also why the sound gets better over the course of the first few songs.

I've ran into some really awkward mixes of the live shows, one had keyboards unnecessarily loud at times, one (ADK video) was drum-dominant and made the song sound kinda doomish... then we have the ones where you can only hear Alexi's vocals, like COB was a pop band with clear vocals and minimal importance on instruments.

You could fill a book with what it takes to deliver a good sounding record - many books, in fact, which is why they hold courses for it ;) Check out the link to Production Advice in my signature for some insights. I yearn for when albums at least tried to mimic the sound of real instruments...

I can check it out maybe, but I meant more like what do you do when mixing on the fly on gigs, if it's so difficult? And if you need big education for it, how can some dudes mess up a COB mix totally?

Maybe the sound dudes liked that sound ?
I got a buddy whos working as a live mixing dude with bands and I gotta say most bands really like him but metal bands tend to dislike his mixing skills (though he mostly listens to metal). But he always says that he likes the sound he s creating :D

And mixing on the fly can be pretty hard because you most of the time you have to adjust every single shit.
thats why I prefer working in a studio

Isn't the whole purpose of mixing to try and get close to the original sound as much as possible? It shouldn't have much to do with taste unless the band specifically wanted a fake sound of some kind for artistic purposes...

what is this "original sound"?
the whole purpose of mixing isnt trying to copy something.
