Comicon NY 2008?

Well, I'm here in New York after a couple of very uneventful flights. (thankfully!)

I saw the Statue of Liberty from the air, took my first New York cab ride, and ate real NY style pizza served by a guy with an Italian accent! I'm off to a running start, and totally thanks to Kaosaur! :headbang:

Tammy, FYI, Sherrilyn Kenyon posted that she has an entire Dark-Hunter booth at NY Comic-Con, and aside from any other scheduled appearances on panels or whatnot, she should be there most of the time. Should not be too hard to find.

Tell her 'hi' from Derek; I don't think she knows me all that well, though.

SCHWEEET!! I will SO be checking it out and hopefully meeting her too! I brought one of her books with me to read, maybe I can have her sign in. Well, I bet she will only sign books bought at the booth (smart move, can't blame her! lol!) I already have 4 unread books in the Dream Hunter series so I had better not buy another yet! If I get to meet Sherrilyn it'll make up for the fact that the full weekend pass doesn't include the Neil Gaimon reading  I will definitely tell her that Derek AND Paul say hi!! Thanks for the heads up, Paul!!! :kickass:

That might be her policy, but I'd be a little surprised if so. Many author bookstore signings are open for all books regardless of where purchased, and I'd hope Sherri does the same at Comic-Con.

D'Oh that's this weekend... Maybe Joey Sky and I will take a trip to NYC on Sat/ Sun to go to Central park zoo. If you're up, maybe we can do breakfast/lunch/ early dinner? I don't know which number I have for you is correct, so you'll have to call/text me!

That sounds awesome! Saturday is all booked up as that is the day of the show and I'll begin my line-waiting/lurking rather early. Didn't fly across the country on my last few dimes just to barely get in and sit in the back.

Sooo..... Sunday then? I'll send a PM with my #

I met Sherrilyn Kenyon! W00t! She has a H.U.G.E. banner over the doors that stretches all the way across the entrance, a really nice booth, tons of free stuff including a full novel and a woven totebag. She was sitting at the booth autographing the novels and posters. I told her, "My friend says he knows you, his name is Derek.. he goes by "Ruthven" and another friend named Paul--" she says, "Oh Cashman??" "Yeah that guy!" " Well ___ is Derek's roommate" *she points to the guy in the next booth over* She then signed the novel, poster and took a picture with me too. She was very nice and even gave me a hug and thanked me when I told her that "The Dream-Hunter" is one of my favorite novels. Nice lady, glad I met her - thanks for the heads up guys!

Now then, I need to get to bed. Gotta be in line VERY early before it opens just to get a ticket for the T.M.Revolution signing session. Only 50 from today and 150 for Saturday! MUST GET ONE! Only bummer is we can't take pictures with him, but I guess I can see the reasons for that. Then the show starts at 8pm... It's going to be a looooong day and a L.O.T. of (more) walking, so i better get my beauty sleep! The big day is almost here! \m/

Wow, I'm kinda surprised she knew me by name..... Although now that I think about it, several years ago when I was still the Dragon*Con webmaster, she emailed me about maybe getting guest credentials for D*C. I had no clue who she was and we get a lot of guest requests from authors (and other people) who frankly don't deserve an invitation to Mcdonalds, let alone Dragon*Con......so I checked her name and her listings on Amazon.

"Holy shit! 'Amazon Sales Rank: #7 in all books' ?!?!?!"

Needless to say, my email to the D*C powers-that-be was an easy sell. :)

My life is now 98%* complete! That was the single most satisfying show I've ever seen! Checking T.M.R. off the list of "Must See" bands has been in the works for nearly a decade. I laughed, I screamed, I cried like a teenage fangirl, and it was all way worth it! Managed to get to the panel discussion, the autograph signing, onto the fan message reel, into the beginning of the waiting line, and into the 3rd row of the show - dang skippy! Takanori is such a fabulous performer and showman!! Sure can't wait to see him again!

Now, to see the rest of New York!

Wow, I didn't realize she was that high up either! She was at her booth again today and they had another massive pile of free books. That's the way to do it - hand out a full novel for free and then point to the autograph line! She's a very nice gal!
