Comics!

Last year, Austria got its own superhero-series, simply titled "Austrian Superheroes". Recently, Germany followed with "Liga deutscher Helden". Both series came into being via a crowdfunding-campaign. So far, they are only available in German, thus probably nearly anyone here who might be interested in checking them out won't be able to read them.

Paperback in this case, just that I got some online bookstore giftcards for Christmas so I'm looking around at stuff that is usually out of my range of what I'm willing to spend. I looked around and there's no Concrete on this store btw.

Any suggestions for collections, omnibuses etc?

hmm, if you're looking for superhero stuff check out Brubaker's Captain America run. Dark, gritty, somewhat political etc. Easily the best take anyone has had on the character imo. He had a pretty cool Daredevil run too. Also Jonathan Hickmans Fantastic Four was the shit and one of my favorite reads when i shortly started buying singles again.

If you want something outside of the marvel universe, go with Brubakers Criminal, which is one of the bet noire-ish crime book around or Hickmans mindfucks that are The Nightly News and Pax Romana

Interesting concept. Just might check this out when the time comes.

Witchblade? Really?
I think Witchblade is great, the art is ofcourse stereotypical but I think that kind of add to the atmosphere.

@Vilden the site doesn't hold either one. Btw, what do you think of the new live action Battle Angel Alita film?
Didn't even know there was one coming out, pretty stoked tbh. Battle Angel Alita is among my top 3 mangas ever (the anime is good too but it finishes when it the story gets epic).

I haven't watched any trailers or anything yet though, does it look promising?

I thought it was pretty pedestrian, but i only read like the first 10-15 issues, of which i still have in singles actually. The art was actually the best part of the series. Silvestris work is always fantastic and Michael Turner is pretty good too. Don't know they changed up artists later on or what.

oh man i thought you;d already read Transmetropolitan, if not get on it.

edit: Holy Fuck you still haven't read millers Daredevil.

I've read almost everything(minus Aliens) you listed and you cant go wrong with anything up there tbh. Definitely start with Daredevil, which is the greatest comic book run ever imo.

I've read the first Daredevil collection but it wasn't my copy, which kinda backlashed on me because then it killed my motivation to buy a book I'd already read.

I now no longer ever borrow any books or DVDs from friends.

I'm leaning towards the Hellboy book (which is $70 on that site) and one of the cheaper books like Transmetropolitan. So nothing up there is a flop?
