Controversial opinions on metal

There not relevent because all there albums get repetetive and forgettable with the exception of some of their earlier work. And South Of Heaven isnt boring its different and its a hell of a album.Morbid Angel I could never get into.In my opinion theres nothing special abour them.

I think Morbid Angel is a great band, definitely a martyr in DM, but they can be a bit repetitive TBH.

Slayer, I thinks, sounds different every album. I could name the album of a song by Slayer just by the style.

opeth are different every album too and that doesn't stop most of those albums from sucking. slayer did nothing worthwhile after reign in blood, save the odd decent song

I still don't understand all the hype for Dol Guldur. I find it to be Summoning's weakest release. Someone please explain what I'm missing.

It's common with Summoning to get attached to the first album you hear from them, since most of their stuff is quite similar. Dol Guldur was my introduction to the band. I hated it at first but upon repeated listens, grew to love it so much I literally didn't listen to anything else for several months. It's a great album, but I do need to be in a certain mood to enjoy it nowadays.
Stronghold is also pretty good actually, only more guitar driven and less repetitive. The thing is that it's more of the same and since I heard Stronghold after Dol Guldur, it hasn't impacted me as much.

i think from dol guldur onwards they settled into their groove, put out a series of *good* albums but haven't pushed the boundaries as much as i suspect they're capable of doing. i think dol guldur is the purest expression of a formula they've been basically retreading over the past 3 albums, so i have no real need for those. they're still good, and i know they differ in certain ways, but those ways usually make them worse by my reckoning, and aren't fundamentally different enough to hold my interest for long regardless

Agreed about Summoning. It's a "one trick pony" band, to put it bluntly. Once they've dazzled you, it's difficult to get as excited about their subsequent work. It just feels too familiar and thus underwhelming.

sounds like more mopey crap like coldplay. I hope that style of music goes out of fashion in a big way and people look at it like they look at Steps.

lol what

it is NOTHING like Coldplay

Mew as a whole is nothing like any band around tbqh, M83 is probably the closest you'll find to them.

Minas Morgul was my first, so I have the same attachment, and I think it's their best.

I disagree. For one thing, Lugburz is vastly different. Stronghold is very guitar-driven and Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame is more synth-driven. Oath Bound is a combination of Dol Guldur and LMHSYF.

I still dont understand why Reign In Blood is so great. But yeah I suggest everyone listens to some Psycroptic.

@Zephyrus: But in a nutshell, it's all the same brand of soundtrack-like BM they've been releasing since Minas Morgul with a different production. There are no drastic advancemments in sound.

Perhaps, but I don't like the whole "you've heard one album, you've heard it all" attitude, since I find each album unique in its own way.

What I can agree with, however, is that they are stagnating, as demonstrated by Oath Bound.

show no mercy - fuckin awesome

haunting the chapel- CHEMICAL WARFARE MOTHER FUCKERS

hell awaits - need i even say it?

reign in blood - fuck all of you, it's one of the best and most influential metal albums ever

south of heaven - slow but none the less, it's a fucking awesome album

seasons in the abyss - not as good as SOH or RIB but it still kicks ass

divine intervention - different, but not bad

undisputed attitude - a bunch of punk covers and some songs that jeff wrote when he was going to make a side project with the dude from suicidal tendencies yet decided not to so he threw them on here... not slayer but entertaining

diabolus in musica - sucked

god hates us all - had 3 awesome songs on it but, that's about it

christ illusion - better than the 3 previous albums, it had a few kick ass songs on it (skeleton christ, jihad, cult, and my favorite... supremist)

slayer kicks ass, fuck the haters
