Cradle of Filth anyone?

I totally dig them. I have for 6 years now. They've had some weak albums but I'm still on board with these guys even though they get the shit bashed out of them in the forums here. It doesn't make a fuck to me. I like their music.

I like them mainly for their (dani's) lyrical prowess and their attempts to enhance the music and it's complete scope of possible interpretation with thematic storytelling formulations and saturation of pseudo-gothic, romantic imagery.

Dani uses artificial vocal effects both in the studio and live, though the capabilities of this are obviously more limited in the live setting. He can't do a low death growl without help from the effects, although he can hit his high shrieks, albeit for only a short time before his voice cracks.

He's a pretty crap vocalist, to be fair. I find his style interesting, and it sounds good on disc....but it's a bit naff that he can't really do much of it unaided.

I love their old stuff, especially Vempire. Their new stuff is good, but not as good as the old. I saw them live a couple of weeks ago and they were really good. The band seemed pretty cool when we talked to them afterwards, though, as to be expected, Dani was a bit egotistical.

Excellent post dude.

Also I like them. Not as much as other metal but I do like them. And whoever said Dani uses lyrical effects, can you find me some legitimate source stating this or is this one of those "rumors that become assumptions that become semi-fact"?

One obvious indication are his low vocals on the live performances. I have both the Heavy Left-Handed and Candid DVD as well as Live Bait For The Dead, and it's the same in both cases. His "growls" live nowhere near approach the death vocal effect that they do on countless songs. Also, if you have not noticed, on his high shrieks, his voice always begins to waver/shake live. This never happens on the studio releases; the note is always steady. Point is, the variation of his live vocals nowhere near approach what they do in the studio; the only explanation for this that he isn't able to vary them as much, which in turn leads to the conclusion that he uses effects in the studio.

Allright, and I have never seen them live, had to miss the show a few weeks ago for certain reasons. Oh well, I read they didn't even talk to the fans afterwards.
