Cradle of Filth are SHIT on record......BUT

Which is perfectly fine...aside from their earlier stuff, I can't stand them. And even if someone just heard them and says they're shit, there's nothing wrong with that. I just know people who used to love them and now they try to disassociate themselves from ever liking them because they suck now. Metallica sucks now as well, but they're still one of my all-time favorite bands.

Remember when Slayer was considered fast? I look back on those days when I thought Lombardo was a godlike drummer, and now we have people like Barker, Hellhammer, Haake, Kollias, etc. I don't think many albums of the 80s and 90s would have been signed if it were then how it is today.

I was just noticing this trend of people who started listening to metal yesterday and are hailing Venom as the greatest band ever because "you're supposed to" or something like that. Kinda like "you're supposed to" not like CoF. None of that little tirade was aimed at anyone here.
Really? I've been noticing this trend of people who don't like a band saying that those who say they do are just following a trend because they're "supposed to"

Like how I'm supposed to NOT like a band? Nice try.

But I also said:

As well as...

Chris I think you take metal a little bit too seriously, man. It doesn't do you any good for yourself to get so worked up over peoples' opinions.

This is all in good fun, mang! I'm not worked up at all...I just have very strong opinions (which should probably be kept to myself most of the time ). But what's the fun in keeping your opinion to yourself on an opinionated message board?

Yeah I know, sometimes I should just shut up and color, but I just have this urge to debate...always have. However, you have to admit that most of the time I have very valid and good points, even if people disagree. I'll be the first to admit that it does come off as abrasive sometimes. I've never been good at filtering.

But look at the posts I always post in...they always have some sort of dialogue or debate...how many times have you seen me in the Unstoppable Lunch Thread?

I shoulda been a fuckin' lawyer.

I just noticed that LEDMAG started this thread...his threads don't get past a few posts unless he's fighting with someone.

I'm a sucker for free speech.

I guess we're opposites then haha. I have very strong opinions too, but I generally keep them off of message boards. I'd rather have real discussions with people because I think when you type it out, too much is left open for interpretation. I never feel like I can completely portray my true thoughts online because it's so easy for people to twist them up (like I may have just done about you with my last post haha) how they want to, or just the wrong way without realizing it.

You do make good points and you do explain yourself very clearly, but I think that's what prompted me to say something in the first place. You obviously spend a lot of time thinking about metal and the people that enjoy it for the wrong or right reasons. I prefer to just like what I like and call that good enough. I used to think about nothing but metal, considered metal my life, and didn't understand people that didn't understand metal. As I get older, it just takes less and less precedence over my life and I find myself caring less about the general state of it. Metal will never be perfect and there will always be losers that listen to it for the wrong reasons. Such is life, I guess. I'd rather talk about something else, something a little more important, or something a little less controversial. Like burgers!

No dude, you're exactly right! Many times I say things on here and when I read them later I think, "Man, that makes me sound like a total fuckhole."

I think my frustration towards metal comes from exactly what you've said about yourself, how you feel it's not such a big deal anymore, which makes it somewhat of a paradox. I'm actually bored with most metal these days. I've now delved into the realm of "good music is good music, no matter the genre"...

I'm just way too opinionated, man...and I'm definitely not one to say "your band is crap because I don't like them", but sometimes I go overboard with critiques. I think it stems from all the medocrity of bands around where I live, and I get really tired of the posturing.

The board is a great way to release some of my feelings towards that, but it shouldn't be at the expense of other users. I never attack anyone here because I hate that, but I know I can be overly critical sometimes. I've got really really really thick skin and I need to realize that not everyone is like that. Meh...it's one of my faults.

Today was bittersweet. Got a letter from Metal Blade saying "while we liked your album, we just don't feel you're the right type of band for us", and so on and so forth. You could almost hear the mouse clicking "cut" and "paste" on the email. I guess we should be happy that they even took the time to send us an email because if labels really don't like your album, it goes in the garbage and you never hear from them ever.

However, I just got a call from Emanuele saying that a singer who really likes our stuff and has been taking singing lessons for quite a while wants to join our band. Hopefully our search is over for the singer and we can start playing live around Italy now and get some recognition.

The day started with a kick in the balls and then followed up with a kiss on the cheek.
