I watched and interview with Cronos from Venom, and the guy asked him if he thought Cradle of Filth was black metal and he said "I don't care, I think they're shit."

I concur. Label them whatever you want, it's not going to make the music any less atrocious.

Dani's vocals were pretty decent on some of the early material when he was still taking advantage of the more deathier growl and using the shrieks lighter, but with time he just became horrid to listen to. Also, about Cronos, considering he's done guest vocals for COF, as well as a monologue on one of the tracks that I can't recall, and was also prime in getting COF signed in the first place, his opinion is null and void.

Venom is pretty boring to these ears. admittedly i havent heard more than about 4-5 songs or so, ya know, because its so fucking boring. like raw crappy thrash made somehow rawer and crappier. maybe they're the only 'real' black metal band, but at least the norwegians can write some memorable riffs.

Dude, don't apologize, . Venom is fucking garbage and they've always been garbage. The only reason they were associated with black metal was because they wrote a song with the same name. The music is nothing like it...and even the music in and of itself is shit anyway. Fuck Venom.

Venom is a band that is name-dropped by everyone because they want to seem "cultured" and "educated" in classic metal, even though that's a paradox. It's the complete opposite of Cradle of Filth. Everyone shits on CoF because it's the popular thing to do and not only because they don't like them.

Bah. I'll take Celtic Frost over Venom any day. Fuck Venom. Fuck Venom. Fuck Venom.

Excuse me Chrism I don't drop Venom's name to sound "educated" or "cultured".... I like Venom because I grew up on them, and I happen to think they're great...in their own unique way.

I was just noticing this trend of people who started listening to metal yesterday and are hailing Venom as the greatest band ever because "you're supposed to" or something like that. Kinda like "you're supposed to" not like CoF. None of that little tirade was aimed at anyone here.
