Cradle of Filth are SHIT on record......BUT

Dani's voice has always irritated me, but goddamn could that little imp write lyrics.

I never understood why people get so irritated when CoF are mentioned...
They never claimed they are a metal band, nor they are !
So maybe they have the looks (sorta) but who cares?
I think back in the day they released awesome albums, that may not be for everybody, and I agree the vocals can be annoying at times: but the music and lyrics (as Russel says) are great. (most of the time)

Dani is a prick sometimes... above all he's goofy and he simply doesn't care what people think of him. He is very smart: when you find the rare moment when he is willing to talk 'normal'
He acts like a bloody rock star most of the time... but you know, so what? He is. Kinda......
Not something I would tolerate from a REAL metal band, but Cradle are not...they are trendy, big, famous....you name it: so the 'tude comes with the territory.
I spent some time with those guys in England... You really have no clue how big they are until you see bunch of fans running after them in London in mid day screaming and waving stuff to be signed... and getting in all the cool clubs simply because you're 'with Cradle' ...... Crazy!

Above all... like I said: they are bunch of goofy bastards.

take them for what they are....nothing more... nothing less...

Do you ever notice that most of the people who are very successful in rock and metal have a reputation for being pricks? Do people ever wonder why they have a reputation for being pricks? Probably because they have a low tolerance to mediocrity (with the exception of CoF albums of late). Everyone slags Dave Mustaine, Lars Ulrich, Kerry King, Dani Filth, etc. for being pretentious assholes. I can't understand why people think that low quality musicianship should be tolerated if you're in a big band, and that if you speak out against it or fire someone from your band for being a fuckin' waste of space, you're automatically an asshole.

Karen hit the nail on the head.

Now that's just thilly.

Why so?

They always claimed they just simply write what they like and feel,
and should it come out sounding like metal: then so be it.

I don't consider Cradle of Filth a metal band AT ALL.
For me, they are trendy, goth, theatrical heavy music that sound o.k at times... which is why they never bother me...

Their first couple of albums were great, I thought, but the rest are shit.

He really is one big dude...and I agree he was better with Dimmu, but I think that has more to do with the style of the band than with his abilities. I actually prefer Nick to Hellhammer.

Ah yes. I love Malice Through the Looking Glass. We're thinking about covering that and Anaal Nathrakh's "Do Not Speak" for live situations.
