Cubase 8 is here!

Interested in the new VST and VSTi additions/re-additions and the control surface he's using! Otherwise I'm all good with 7.5.

Bounce-in-place/render-in-place is FINALLY added. Took them long enough. The rest looks worthy for an upgrade from me.....after the holiday shopping.

I'm not really up to date with Cubase. One of the biggest problems I had was that plugin management was a missing feature. Has this been added or improved somewhere in the last updates? I'm talking about sorting plugins into folders and being able to organize them, similar to how it's possible with Reaper. I only found a few posts on the Steinberg forum from 2012 where a mod said that they would be working on it.

As a reaper user, I would say it can be pretty horrific for some users to have to dig into the vsts the way reaper does (which is, have all of them together and filter them).

I'm personally used to typing the first letter or the first two letters and clicking on the name, or going to my "eQ" or "comp" folder in the favorites, but I wish I also had a right clic menu the cubase way sometimes.

EDIT : is nt this what is proposed at around 4:30 in this video ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBagFg3IVrA&feature=youtu.be&t=4m30s If i got it correctly, you can now create "collections"

Looks really neat! Cool new features.
There might be a point where I'm gonna go back to Cubase, since Avid doesn't really seem to give a shit about anything ^^

Looks really great. I was honored to be involved in one small aspect of this release (the bass cabinets in the new VST Bass Amp, which come from Recabinet 3&4.) Can't wait to give it a spin.

From a functionnality point of view, this looks like Reaper 2.0 to me except obviously for the MIDI part of things, but the thing is the whole UI makes it nicer than I expected. I'll stick to Reaper but it got me interested from a distance !

EDIT : and that whole big interface looks neat

Ill check it out now. Im a happy 6 user and been trying to convince myself to update but i could not get used to the interface of the 7 although i used it quite heavily at my friend/drummer's house and did appreciate some of the new features.

There were just some very annoying bugs while 6 is stable (they probably fixed them tho so thats not an issue) but the interface ;s i feel stupid not upgrading for such a small reason but you do spend so much time in front of that screen...

Upgraded! $100 bucks isn't bad, especially for a performance targeted upgrade which every software upgrade should be but usually aren't, sadly. :(

EDIT: OMG! Just noticed the new VST Effects/Instruments tabs in the new plug-in manager. Sorting plug ins into collections? YES!!! THIS IS HUGE!
