Dan,

Have you ever thought about why you are here? Here we have the bible which explains so much to us and how Jesus and the holy spirit saved us all. You are such a smart guy, I hope one day you will embrace our creator and that will reflect in your lyrics. Nightingale is such a cool project-I wish you would do that and not the Bloodbath stuff. I'm way past that Satanic stuff.. Take it Ez- creator of the Karaboudjan :)

This is how stupid christianity can be, this is the guy's first post, he signed up on Dan's forum, and the first thread he makes is "Here we have the bible which explains so much to us and how Jesus and the holy spirit saved us all."

It's simply impossible to not bring religion into absolutely ALL MATTERS. Not even the music of Dan Swano...(see avatar).

First of all Christianity is not stupid(and I should know...I'm jewish)
religion is simply a set of rules to follow for a better life. It's fundamentalist and fanatics who use half truths and twisted interpetations to Holy books of for their personal agenda which makes religion seem pretty lame and even dangerous but Everyone is entitled to his own opinion on the subject and you shouldn't dismiss him because you don't agree.

As far as I'm concerned, a concept album about Creation(as oppose to Uncreation:headbang: ) is quite a good idea. Now giving it the Swano brothers touch and maybe a little Blackheim too and we got ourselves another classic.

p.s
sorry about this post, I just had to spreak my mind...

I`m happy that i don`t have any rules i need to follow. I can do and say what i want. I can hate everything. That`s great. :)

That's trully great...As long as you hate everyone and don't descriminate

Well, its easy to speak out against something which you know nothing about. As parodoxile said.. its the way people twist the bible and add their own personal preferences that makes it look bad. Consider the Muslims, Catholics. Anyone can lead a life that feeds the needs of only the individual, but those wo do for others and believe will be rewarded in eternal life and not the short life we live on earth. Its up to you. I dont know what you think, but the world is getting pretty scary and evil. Im sure middle easterners and Europeans know what Im talking about.

Are you saying that Muslims and Catholics are wrong in their beliefs?
If so my son, then you are a hypocrite. Judge not and you shall not be judged.
I could care less about your beliefs or who the fuck esle's beliefs. The problem with religon is people like you trying to tell us who is right and who is wrong. Well my friend, Only God can do this. So shut the fuck up.
This shit does not belong on the Dan Swano Board dammit!

I see why Tom disliked the initial response to this, because it was pretty hateful, but I think it's not out of line to take exception to this attitude.

This post is superficially written in a respectful manner, but it's very condescending and self-righteous. Why? Because it assumes two things. 1) that there is a particular, one truth, and that the version the person who posted it adheres to is that truth, and 2) that those who do not accept this truth are lacking in insightfulness and intelligence.

The most alarming thing is that there's a hope that Dan will accept this truth and use his music to sell it to others.

I mean, how can you not be offended by this? He's essentially saying Dan is misguided and that if he's smart, he'll change his mind about everything he believes in, and accept a really narrow interpretation of life and spirituality.

I'm an atheist, but I don't go around telling other people that they should not believe in god, because I understand people feel their spirituality is important to them (and one's own truth is the truth). This is a very disrespectful post, and while I know that wasn't the intention of the poster, that is the result of what he wrote, and in my experience this particular type of condescension comes from Evangelical Christians (obviously people in all other religions practice this sort of condescension in some form, but the suggestion that he use his music for religious activism made me think of Evangelical Christians).

Please.. why the hell (no pun intended) do you have to bring a religious debate onto a forum like this? It has nothing to do with the music of Nightingale/Edge of Sanity/Second Sky/Whatever project Dan is currently working on and if you really have to know where his sympathies are in a matter like this, send an e-mail.

If you want a religious debate, post this thread in a forum that is more suitable for it.

Good post. I'm not an atheist myself, but you succeeded to put words to the way I've fealt many times, when people try to convince me to embrace, what they are certain is, "the one true faith". I've had a hard time explaining to them how I feel and why they shouldn't bother trying. Next time I think I'll borrow bits from your explanation if that's ok. :)

The bible is the only book inspired by God, and if not followed correctly you WILL BE JUDGED by the creator so gate.. Im not judging anyone. If you want to get into a debate then I challenge you-but until then your hateful remarks dont do anyone any good. There is too much biblical evidence of creation for me to believe in evolution so Im not even going to go there. Dans a great guy, and he has changed a lot with his music. Im just trying to make suggestions because I think he has a big heart with his music. PEACE my friends.

Haha, of course. I think that's the first time I've ever made sense to anyone with regards to religion. Makes me feel better, I don't look down upon spirituality, and I don't think, personally, that the way I view religion is disrespectful to those who are religious.

I think maybe I found the words before you did because as an atheist, people press me very hard about it if I reveal my lack of belief in anything. And it's not so much the believing, but the lack of interest that really gets to them. So I've had to draw the line in the sand repeatedly, and I guess when you have to explain something over and over, you develop something approaching a coherent explanation.

You come on to this board and try to tell Dan and us how to live our lives?
It is "YOU" that is being hateful here. Your "My way is the only way or you are doomed to hell" is the most hateful thing anyone can say to peace loving musicians and music lovers from around the world. You are the one doomed to hell for holding to a belief that you are better than others. There are many religions around the world and christianity isn't in the top spot. Respect the feelings of others and we will all get along. Spew this "My religon is better than your religion, na na na na na" and you will be ignored.

you know... you guys are all judging.

just thought i'd point it out. I believe in God, but I don't feel the need to try and force others to. The only true conversion comes from within. I try such that I would be a shining example, so that if someone sees the way I live and says "he's pretty happy and seems well off" they might consider looking into it. If someone like that approaches me about it, sure, i'd be glad to discuss everything they ask.
But i'm not going to go bashing people with it. We have the freedom to believe in what we each believe, and I respect people's rights to that. If you really want to change people's hearts, change your own.

Strange that the original poster did not make reference to Infestdead. I would recommend a listen. Quality Swanö hooks throughout and genre-typical fun lyrical content... :headbang:

There are a few things I have never understood about Religion (some of which have already been cleared up by Silent Song in other discussions).

Why are people in the USA so religious (seems much more so than any other "Western" country)?

Why do religious people care about the lyrical content or spiritual direction of music? To me, vocals can be a story, but more often than not I hear them as another "instrument within the music". For example, I do not speak any Swedish but I adore the Sörskogen track. That and years of listening to undecipherable DM. Music is music, religious music is something different that bears little relation to most of the world.

Why do religious people always think they are correct?

Why are they usually hypocrites (not referring to you here Kenneth!)?

Just a little fuel to the fire for the moral minority that obviously have all the answers... :loco:
