What is that suppose to mean? Will it be a concept abum? Maybe something like Adagio´s "Underworld" ?
What are your guesses?

I'm going to have to disagree with both points.popetot said:I guess by 'triumphant' he means cheesy ...
So the new cd will be progressive Pantera or what ...? That's okay with me.

Jax said:The way MJR put it is that both V and The Odyssey have a 'triumphant' (his word) tone/feel to much of them, & he wants this new one to be darker than that.
Rose Immortal said:If their sound becomes darker, I could live with it. But I definitely don't want them forgetting the symphonic element. This CAN be done in a darker context--think Stravinsky's Rite of Spring or Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, for two obvious examples.

Haha... those crazy Finns. The thread about this on the forum of JP himself was enough fun, so I won't start a flame war here.Yeah but this is Symphony X we're talking about, not a certain band whos guitarist likes wearing eyeliner and black nailpolish and thinks he's better than John Petrucci, so I don't think we have anything to worry about
I'm one of those fans that disagrees. A lot of them were just simple, heavy riffs and mega-fast solos that seem like they had a lot less effort put into them than the ones on DwoT, Twilight, and V.Most SyX fans I meet disagree with me about this... and understandably so... but, in my opinion the songwriting really got bumped up about 12 notches on "The Odyssey."

OfSinsAndShred said:Lyrically it was better than great, but musically... I don't blame Pinella for making a solo CD, 'cause they didn't even need him for half the songs on The Odyssey.
Tom Miller's lyrics were just incredible. But I really loved some of the lyrical stuff on the Odyssey (excluding the title track). The second verse of Wicked comes immediately to mind.Beelzebub said:hahahaha... I remember listening to the Odyssey and thinking "Pinellaaaaa! Where are youuuu???"
But I must disagree on the lyric thing. They weren't that great in The Odyssey. I miss Tom Miller's lyrics.
