Darkthrone

Their production sounds the way it sounds because that is their vision of the music. What I hate most about new bands is the sterile production. Where's the rawness, where's the edge? It all sounds so clinical. Just compare some late 80's and early 90's death metal classics to the stuff churned out today and the production in the old album sounds much better. Also with Darkthrone, with a better sound the force of the album would go down a lot.

You can't say that since you haven't and we all haven't heard Darkthrone with a better sound. But of course I know what you mean, and I agree at some points. But still, I can't stand their attitude, but that's my personal opinion...

Ehh, it is pretty evident that their music would suffer quite much from a better production.

What about their attitude? They make their music to sound like the way they want it to sound. Those statements about keeping a "poor prodcution" (which IMO is great production as opposed to the piss-poor production on say, the new Dimmu Borgir album) in their albums just so that they wouldn't sell much are made just to yank the chains of people like you.

the three classic Darkthrone releases have been rereleased on vinyl by peaceville. I want them. I want them bad. I don't have any money. I will kill for money.

Someway it's a cult that will never die, the bad production and the bad sound of DT CDs, but I like it. But I'm not one of those who say that only such underground Black Metal rulez, I also like more commercial Metal bands like Gamma Ray or Edguy.

Well, I love Gamma Ray (well, Land of the Free I love, the rest I just like) but the point is that black metal is better with "poor" production. Different kinds of productions fit different genres better.

they have a pretty bad production because they don't want to get famous. they think it's true and they want to stay underground. I think it sucks to make a bad production just because they think it's "true". every band should try to give their best!

Another Darkthrone thread. and here we go again!

They think that it's truuuue? Maybe, but they are constructing the
music as they see fit! Do you people think it's done this way
so that they can say "We are true, coool"???
Their musical expression is enhanced by this production!
This is what Fenriz likes to call organic sound. You should read
or listen to some interviews concerning their music, then MAYBE
you can understand something of this... daaaah!
And Darkthrone IS best at what they're doing

Darkthrone isn't some slick roll-hoppeti-hop-band like COB...
It's entirely different. An entirely different musical expression.
I like COB as well, but I take their music for what it is, not how
I would like it to be! (that's another band.)

Cheers :Smokedev:

hehehe i just dont like the bad probudction quality....... thats the main reason i dont pay more than $10 for a darkthrone cd....
