I never said they were exclusive to death metal. Neither are blastbeats (grind? black metal? Some power metal?)... But blastbeats and chromatic riffing are definitely DM staples, at least of the old school.

I've been listening to Sinister lately. Although they're old I'm not so much into DM so I just discovered them recently. They kind of sound like Cannibal Corpse... pretty good.

It might not be death metal, but I love the fact that they're a "viking metal" band from Mexico with a singer that learns Norwegain online to be able to use it for singing

On another note, did get the earlier This Ending CD in the mail today, haven't had time to listen to it yet though.

Been on a brutal binge lately. Human Mincer, Wormed, and Devourment own all your faces.

I like Wormed and Devourment but I find that as far as "face owning" and aggressiveness goes bands like Nasum, Gadget, Rotten Sound etc are way better.

I've only heard a little stuff by Nasum, but I didn't like it. Sounded like pointless blasting.

Grind is also amazing... Rotten Sound, General Surgery, oldschool Carcass, Nasum, Trap Them, Antigama, The Berzerker, Birdflesh, Jig- Ai... others..

Ahh and I hate Devourment... soo.. much....
