There are definitely some undeniable death metal elements in Slipknot's music, like blastbeats, palm muted chromatic riffing, etc. Can't say I'm a fan of Slipknot's newer stuff, nor would I say they are death metal (when they started out, I'd say they were close to avant garde/experimental stuff like Mr. Bungle and somehow morphed into this angsty goth band haha), but I did like Mate Feed Kill Repeat and the self-titled.
