death or children of bodom?

I think it depends on what the person is asking.

If you want to know who I think is the overall better band, as far as musicianship, discography, affect on metal, etc, I suppose it would have to go to Death, just because of the impact they had.

However, if you just mean, who do I prefer to listen to more? Ill definitely go with COB. Ive never been big on death metal (with a few exceptions), and I really have never liked prog metal, Im one of those types that the knowledgeable music people hate who thinks prog music is boring. *shrug* it just doesnt do anything for me.

Dude....the thing I really like about bodom is the fact that they HAVE that ''happy'' sound. Just listen te Needled 24/7. Thats fuckin cool...follow the reaper is full of those ''happy'' melodies...and that album is concidered one of their best. The reason why I didnt really like AYDY is because the happy sounds are basically gone. That pisses me off.

YER SAYING CHILDREN OF BODOM IS HAPPY?!?!?!

not that happiness is a bad thing

but

dude

everything about Bodom is about Death!!!

HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE HAPPY?

Someone shine the light on me now--

they may sound "Happy"

but personally i think if i had to listen to just COB forever, nothing else, i would be the most depressed motherfucker in the world

LMFAO!

DEATH! DEATH! DEATH! DEATH! DEATH!

Seriously though,
The melodies on Hatebreeder are extremely "happy" meaning if you listen to them they are upbeat and it sounds like they are having fun playing them. Like on the title track, Hatebreeder.

And listen during the chorus of Follow the Reaper! It makes me feel like dancing.

Yes, the word you're looking for here happens to be MAJOR SCALE. Someone's said this before. I know what you're talking about, and I know what a major scale is, and they're basically the same thing (except ones a scale, the other's a description of music...whatever).

The point is, EVEN if you like Bodom more, you should still acknowledge that Death is superior. Death/Control Denied happens to be my favorite band. But I'll still openly admit that there are countless other bands/artists/composers who are, effectively, superior. Whatever. Rusty Cooley kicks Bodom's ass, in that he does what they try to do only he does it well. There are only a few instances of Bodom that go beyond Rustey Cooley.

Absolutely right, but if these two bands still are compared, I'm totally for Death:rock: Death was and is and remains more proficient in making Metal, one band hardly ever reaches such a high level of technicality as Death has reached, musically and lyrically as well. Death's music is not just sounds for headbanging, it has certain sense. Sure there are many great bands, including CoB, but Death is the greatest of the great, the Legend that never dies, I'd say.

"Keep the Metal Faith Alive",
RIP Chuck Schuldiner

That's pretty much true, Death were always making high quality music without having to repeat their ideas every album. Chuck wrote great lyrics that made you think, but not so generic as having any meaning you like or being about killing/satan either. Very few bands evolve the way Death did without making sacrifices in quality or becoming stagnant over their careers(Sentenced, Amorphis, Metallica, Megadeth all fit the bill).
I have nothing bad to say about Bodom, I love their 1st 4 CD's, have not heard the latest and know they are killer live too.

the minute bodom can write a riff like Scavenger of Human Sorrow is the minute bodom has anything on Death. not to mention every fucking song on The Sound of Perserverence.[/QUOTE]

DUDE, trapped in a corner, isnt that song on The Sound of Perserverence? Anyway yeah I am going to go with death even though i like Bodom I can recongnize when one band is clearly better than another band. DEATH :worship:

Elysian is right, 'Trapped in a Corner" is on the "Individual Thought Patters" album (1993). I quite like this song, and the album itself. "Trapped in a Corner" even sounds awesome live.

And as to TSOP, that's one of their best, imo. Music is awesome, frets of the lower strings are mostly used those near the 12th fret. It's just like Death and I enjoy it.:worship:

Thanks James for supporting my opinion:rock: Yes, I do appreciate Chuck's lyrics , they differ so much from so many bands. It's really a pleasure for me that he did not dedicate his music and lyrics to senseless killing or satan. By the way, the better part of the texts for Scream Bloody Gore was written by Kam Lee, not Chuck:grin: And the way of Death's evolution is also remarkable: each new album contained ideas expressed wiser than on the previous albums, imo.

And, yes, alot of bands turned into commercial bands, lol. Metallica and Megadeth in particular:lol:

Who are you replying to? Me? What is totally different then? 1) If you meant James' and my opinions, they are not different at all.

2) If you meant Death and COB, then yes, they are different. James' reply to my post and my post itself have said it all, I think...
