Hey hows it going. I'm new to this forum and after seeing this thread I had to reply. You have to have respect for a band like Death that inspired most of todays metal world. However, the band went through so many different band members that it almost made them a hard band to follow. Even if you don't like the band (which I can see why some would) you should still show respect to the band that brought metal into your home today. I can honestly say that todays standers in death metal have progressed way beond Death, but I still think everyone should know who they are.

I think we can come to the conclusion that Gorgoroth > CoB & Death

Gorgoroth is problaby my favourite norweigan BM-band, and I've listened to them a lot over the years.

But COB/Death > Gorgoroth either way

I've listened to death, I've downlaod like 10 or 15 song. I don't like that.

I've never seen anyone get into Death on their first listen, other then a drummer. But after a few listens, they take you over.

Their cover of Painkiller was actually what got me into metal. I was shocked when I heard Chuck's proper screaming vocals.
And yeah, unfortunately Elysian is right, death metal today is pretty much wank. Although i really enjoyed the Bloodbath albums. It needs a new spin.

i've heard everything on these bands and .... Death and Children of bodom are my 2 favourites bands but I prefer COB

because the guitars is better and the keyboard create a very nice style.

and the drums in COB is always better on each album

the only things is the bass in COB... :S

Dude....the thing I really like about bodom is the fact that they HAVE that ''happy'' sound. Just listen te Needled 24/7. Thats fuckin cool...follow the reaper is full of those ''happy'' melodies...and that album is concidered one of their best. The reason why I didnt really like AYDY is because the happy sounds are basically gone. That pisses me off.

I think the words your looking for is major scales, not 'happiness'.

Please get that load shot in your face. That was the greatest pile of stupidity I have ever come across since I was subjected to a rant on the philosophical implications of not using the upper frets on a guitar and the virtue thereof. You do not deserve a response.

As it turns out, I like Death just a bit more than a load of flashy guitarwork, wanking keyboards, and double bass that wishes it could be Richard Christy. Do I like Bodom? Yes. Do I think they have the right to walk on the same planet that Chuck Schuldiner made his music on? After watching people spew idiocy like the above, fuck no.

if thats the way you feel about cob then why in gods name are you here?? if you think the band is nothing but flashy guitar wankery why the hell would you post here...rusty cooleys music is flashy guitar wankery..cob is far from that. Also, i prefer cob and will not say anyone is better anyone i just prefer their music over death, i dont really care how progressive it is even tho im a musician i like cobs songs a little more, but death is great
