It took me forever to explain prog to my dad. And he was even a Rush fan.

Good luck trying to explain it to linkin park junkies.

Even proggies have no consistent definition of the term, which makes explaining it to the unitiated all the more difficult. And Rush's fanbase extends far beyond the prog community, so I'm not too surprised by that.
