Hopefully not considered a hijack but here's a mix I did with these exact same drum samples in hopes to get a Deftones White Pony like sound. By far my favorite drum tone of all time, particularly Digital Bath. Kick 1 and Snare 5 are certainly the closest sample sounds to mimic that album.
Its just a stock midi file demo from EZ drummer. I setup 4 instances of EZdrummer to control all the room sounds more effectively and replaced the close kick and close snare samples 100% with Slate's samples. The EZ drummer kick and snare can still be heard though the ambient mics though.

These samples are really worth every penny and they work so well in Drumagog its ridiculous. Even ghost notes are triggered accurately for the most part.
That sounds amazing, what did you do with the toms? They sound lush! When you set up 4 EZ's did you mute everything but the room mics for the extra 3?
Shred: nope, you open "groups" of mics per instance
EZD1: Kick / OH / AMB
EZD2: Snare / OH / AMB
EZD3: Toms / OH / AMB
EZD4: Hat / OH / AMB

I think he must be one of these people who just loads up a program and it instantly sounds better than everybody elses! lol!
It's called ears, experience and vision/talent ...
I am using Drumagog. But not adjusting the settings at all. I usually mute all the other samples and leave it on for example snare crack. Do you have a basic description of the settings I should be using? thanks slate!
I just mixed a metal record (with snare5 actually, the original drum was an f'ing piccolo) and I found that the track worked best with dynamic tracking off. Then you'll get the full meat of the hit as Ice Man said. For most other stuff like rock and hard rock, the 20-40% mark is pretty good.
