There are couple of ideas that interest me/i have thought of as to the origin of deja vu.
I get it all the time when i am writing riffs, i come up with an awesome riff... and then i'm like... hang on, what is that, i KNOW that from somwhere? and then i have to pull apart my 300+ metal cds trying to find this one riff

Sometimes it takes me months, sometimes years... i guess some of them i'll NEVER find *creepy music*
Now, in relation to the universes colliding, that could also have a bearing on deja vu. What's to say that you aren't connected in some way to the "You" in another dimension? What they may be experiencing, like the people they have met, may just be held in one big containment pool of thoughts and images, which is accessed by all the different "You's" in the different dimensions, hence you 'recollecting' the memory of a different path that your other dimensional brothers may have taken, and the people they have met.
The other theory is when to dimensional paths cross back over and join together again. When something is "Fated" to some degree, that no matter what path someone takes and the changes they make, they will end up at the same spot. Well, what if that were to happen, that two ended up in the same spot, which would be more dominant, which would "Take over the current reality". Thats right, if they are both equal, then they would become one, and partially retain the memories of both of the dimensions that they encountered through their path.
Mind boggling stuff!
Then there is the more scientific explanation, the one that is possibly more accurate... your subconscious acting up. When you walk past someone in the street, you look at them, and while you man not 'remember' what you have seen, and may not be able to recall their face, that doesn't mean that it isn't stored in your memory. When you see this person again, something about them jolts your subconscious, and your mind thinks "Jesus, i know that girl... better let this guy know that so he can get into her pants", and hence you have deja vu. Same thing about music, when you hear it, no matter what it is, and no matter wether it doesn't stick in your head, the memories of what you have heard are stored in your subconscious, and when you hear it again, your subconsious memory kicks in and says "Woah, we've heard this before", even though you may not remember where or when.
Hope that helps/confuses
