Deliverance Blows

 Before I opened this I started thinking "Oh man not ANOTHER ONE!"
Yes, Deliverance is great :) I'm only on my second full listen, so maybe by a few more I'll really get into the whole idea.

6th full listen. I like it. It has a different vibe than the others and so far I've enjoyed it each time. I do, however, wish that the outro riff to deliverance was not as long or repetitive.

I'm simpleminded enough to not notice how long they use that riff for. Either that or i'm not actually listening. =) I actually find the opening riffs to Apprentices repetatively maintained. But yeah, Deliverance is killer material. Not their best by a long shot imo, but by no means weak.

I think the drumming near the end of Deliverance (the song) kind of mirrors some of Neil Peart's (Rush) early stuff. I think Opeth are a little like the "Rush of metal", at least musically. Both bands have a lot of prog songs that are long with changing bridges and melodies. The music makes you think. Plus, it's hard to make a 10+ minute long song without boring your audience. But Opeth, Rush & Tool all make great long songs that are over before you know it.

yeah i think that song will grow on you though, i didnt like it really at first either but then one night i just cranked it in my car...and i was like shit!...so since then i love it
