Deliverance > thumbs down

Many will disagree with me, but I think Deliverance is Opeth's weakest effort. True, the album got a lot of quality. True, Mickael's vocals are greater than ever. True, the sound is ultra dry and superbly good. True, the cd is somewhat innovative with African sounds and very good solo's.

But know comes the great but....... It all has become very predictable. I can imagine that newer Opeth fans would really like this masterpiece. I think it hasn't got the awesome feelling like Orchid, Morningrise or Still life has. It simply hasn't got that unique atmosphere anymore. Damn, it's a pity for sure............ Seven milestones...

I'm kinda torn here. I love it...but i'd put it second to last, only being better than Orchid. It's a great album...but when I stack it up against BWP or MAYH...it just can't touch em(then again...what can??).

I didn't realy expect much from Delivernce to be honest. I kind of expected it to be just something to keep the metal heads from freaking out when they released an all acoustic album. However I think it ended up being an improvement over BWP. The album is consistant throughout and never gets boaring (as I found several points in BWP to be). While I dont like it as much as the first 4 I find it to be an interesting progression from BWP.

I think some of you on this message board need to cop a life..All y'all do is complain and moan and biyatch..Deliverance has been out since November of last year..Deliverance is Opeth's best release since the Still Life, MAYH saga..Morning Rise and Orchid are excellent but flawed CD's..Delverance has grown on me and yes I like BTPISIO...I wish opeth would play that track live, I swear I'll be throwing spin kicks and windmills in the pit..The originator of this post sounds like a 12 year old whose jumping on the bandwagon of "Oh opeth sold out"..blah, blah blah..
