Alright guys. I get my new recording equipment in September.
- MacBook Pro 17”
- Apple Logic 9
- Apogee Duett

Which Guitar software should I choose for direct-in recording?
(Sadly I cannot record any real amps in my small apartment…..).

Thanks in advance. :headbang:

I talked to the guys in our local shop and they told me I should get the Line6 UX2 instead of the Apogee Duett.
According to them I might have some latency issues with the Apogee compared to a Line6 interface.

I thought they were kidding…
…do you guys have any info concerning their statement?

I always thought that an Apogee interface + Logic + Mac should be one of the most powerful setups when it comes to recording with a Mac. (Maybe this is not true for direct recording?).

I recently recorded a whole album (sans drums) with a Duet and a Macbook Pro. Never had one latency problem, even at 64 samples.

The Apogee is in another league than the Line6 UX2.

i use a duet here and have had zero latency issues so far. Sound is great. I'm spprised they would even try to compare the 2.

revalver doesnt work so hot with logic. and by not work so hot i mean freeze everytime so you might want to rethink that. catharsis said there should be a fix for it soon so maybe you would want to hold off on revalver until that happens.

Just curious, you don't mention a direct box. Are you intending to plug the guitar straight into the Duet?

It does have a 1/4 input with input level control but I was under the impression that a direct box was needed regardless, just as reamp boxes are needed when reamping.
If it's not then I'll gladly save some money on an intended direct box puchase.

That's exact the same setup I'm saving up for now.
and a radial reamp kit.

I'm gearing up a studio for recording Guit's, Bas, and keyboards.
But reamping in another studio. A
And you save alot of money that way, and get infinite to work with it.
Then recording drums and vocals in a big studio

Best way to make a great album with a lower budget!
