Fuck no. Dawn's first album is good, no doubt, but not nearly as engaging as Sacramentum at their best (Dawn are often bloated in their songwriting, Sacramentum are never this way).

I actually prefere Sacramentum `thy black destiny and the coming of chaos more than far away from the sun. I like Dissection `reinkaos just as much as the first two.

Ah yes, that too is a great album. I used to jam out to "A Castle So Crystal Clear" all the time.

In general you are right, though I would say that a band like Sorcier Des Glaces do keep the style alive, and fuse it with other forms of black metal. Not really sure if the build off of what Sacramentum was doing directly though.
