Do you as a metal listener look down upon other genres of music/their fans?

im listening to quite a big amount of music fon i can have mao fun then.
its hard to explain. but when im listening to fucking rnb on parties or whatsoever, although i do not really like it, i can have more fun :Smokin: :loco: :loco:

I see. o_O

National Socialism was very prevalent in the 20th century too. I bet we'd all love some metal with extremely pro national socialist lyrics and oppinions.

lol youre clearly not very familiar with metal and its fanbase if you think this is a good argument :I

hmm well, just making a post according to the title of the thread (i cant be bothered to read the million replies you lot have made)

so, generally i would say nooo i don't look down on other genres or their fans, for a start i like a lot of non-metal too.

HOWEVER

take say ghetto music, RNB or Hiphop or Rap or WHATEVER. I can't take that seriously, and everyone around where I live is ridiculously into that stuff, and it is all basically a big fake too. And to be honest the "gangsters" and "rudeboys" look like right faggots, and talk in some creapy slang dialect ("blad, boyed, merkled, coching, gwaning, WTF ARE THESE WORDS??)

Also pop fans, they start talking about how rock vocalists can't sing (they never heard of metal so they define anything with guitars and drums as "rock"), or they won't listen to stuff 'cos it's "old" (rather than genuinely crap) That pisses me off, what a fucked up reason.

Generally fans of other musics don't listen to music for the same reasons I do, they can't appreaciate stuff like Gorgoroth, or Sunno))), or infact even Children of Bodom or even Deep Purple :S But basically I don't care what they think anyway, I know more about music than any pop fan I've met in my life, and know more just generally than any brainless rudeboy too.

I appreciate other people's taste in music and their opinions, but I don't appreciate opinions when I don't ask for them, or they can't back them up at all with any argument, or I just beat their argument flat out. For example "Metal has just got too heavy these days, it needs to stop" or "Metal vocalists can't sing", or even "There's no skill in metal (from a rudeboy who thinks that somehow it's much more difficult to put together a Hiphop track on a computer than a metal track with real instruments)". I give up trying to argue because people simply won't listen to what I've got to say, and don't want to think I'm right because they've got an opinion in their head about it already and won't change it.

At the end of the day, I know more about music than any of them, I can back up my opinions and arguments, most people can't do that back. So I don't care what they think. Most pop fans or mainstream music fans I just think follow it becuase that's what it is, the mainstream. (here comes the whole thing about sheep following everyone else and all that)

That post is rather long, that's more or less all i have to say on the subject

Cross-posting this from another forum.

Do you?

Well, I don't to a great extent... Metal has made me more 'musically enlightened', so to speak... but I still abhor trance, hiphop and pop, and the fans who speak like they're the ultimate authority about music. It's sacriliegious to call those genres music, IMHO.

Post your views.

I never look down on other ppl just because they have a diffrent opinion on music, I think it's a sign of a closed-mind and I look down on ppl like that.
I, myself, listen to a great variation of artists, both metal and non-metal. It's important to have an open mind on everything because if you don't, you're stubborn and won't learn anything in life

I hate it when people classify metal as "rock" damn people these days or one kid was wearing a slipknot shirt and I said Slipknot sucks and they said "is death metal to extreme for you" I wanted to fucking punch him for saying Slipknot is death metal
