Does anyone sing anymore?

Hey little bitches, I love power metal so be careful what you say or you'll die impaled by the power of the sword of the thousand flames.

1. What is power metal? Power Metal term was born in the mid-late 80's, and was a mix between speed and power of the thrash metal and melodies of heavy metal. Awesome bands from german NOISE label.

2. I hate bands like DragonForce, Sonata Arctica, and new waves of double kick and high-pitched vocals.... that is not power metal.... that is what people think it is power metal. Is "Painkiller" a powermetal album then?

And Hammerfal is not a power metal band, but a classic heavy metal band, great riffings that remind me of Accept and other bands from the 80's. But yes, it's singers sucks, that is why i can't listen to them... too gay for a band that sings about metal, battle and epicness.

Back to the topic... errr.... suck my balls.

What bands are you considering PowerMetal?

-P

I really like Hammerfall, and I prefer Helloween with Deris over the Keeper albums, not that Keeper isn't great, but Helloween really pushed forward in the latest years. And 7 Sinners is kinda boring but it's growing on me. I don't know why I said that, but I love Helloween

+1 for the Deris releases. I always get excited when a new Helloween release approaches!

Old and new bands... Rage, Vicious Rumors, Risk, Metal Church, Grave Digger, Sanctuary, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Scanner, Agent Steel, Helstar, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth, Running Wild, Riot, Jag Panzer, Mekong Delta, Angeldust... even early Skyclad's.

some of them changed their style during the years, but once they were what we used to call many years ago as POWER METAL.
Now Power Metal has been re-baptised.

Yes, I was going to mention Hammerfall in my rant, but just used Dragon Force as an example of bringing back the high pitched vocals and fast solos. I like the growling singers too, but only if I can understand what they are singing, aka Amon Amarth, Slipknot, etc.. With bands like Dying Fetus, I need a lyric sheet.

I agree with crillemannen on this. It reeks of autotuning, even if the guy sang in tune in the first place.
This "over tuning" is slowly becoming the norm and I hate that.

Maybe the original poster is an arse but that doesn't mean he's dead wrong on this issue.

As for the growls, I personally don't mind it when it's done right and serve the music but a majority of what I hear nowadays sounds like my little cousin trying to impersonate a midget version of angela gossow or some fake tough guy bree bree bullshit.

I like growls, but as i said in my previous post i fuckin hate when they tune the vocals so it sounds like a freakin synth. I rather take a note sung a few cents off then a freaking synth.

I don't have any trouble tuning a few words, or even strap on the good old Autontune, but tuning melodies wlike that is an awful trend. Especially when they tune singers that actually can sing.

Sorry dude, I call bullshit. When I pointed out that the tuning was poorly done and obvious, you said that you knew but that you didn't do it. Don't start going back on your words again, you've barely just established credibility with us!

When did I say I didn't do it? I didn't do the instruments, those were done at RandomAwesome, I just did the vocals.. Peculiar.

Maybe I got my shit mixed up. But I didn't do too much editing for real.. BUT the few spots that you hear the auto tune blips, are indeed where I added the autotune. I admit I did a sloppy job on it, because we had been tracking for hours that day and I just wanted to get it done. Luckily this is only a demo track. Full lenght starts soon ;)

Strange, just went back through that thread and I'm not seeing it. Might be mixing you up with someone else.

But no, it sounds obviously tuned in a lot of spots, you're under-stressing the editing as usual it seems.

Gee, thanks.. :tickled:

The best part of this crap thread, as most have put it, that it has managed to generate 5 pages of replies.

Nah, the best part was you avoiding the thread since the first page despite how badly you were torn a new one in the subsequent posts, and then joining in at the end but still ignoring completely valid points.
