Indeed. Good shit.

Also check out the band "Cryptal Darkness" ...they're from Australia just like you heh. They're (IMO) reeeeeeally good melodic doom metal. In face Martin Powell (former MDB, now in COF) used to play Violin for them.

Wow man. I have heard of Cryptal Darkness but haven't actually "heard" them. Another band right under my nose that go's unnoticed  . I will have to suss them out aswell.

And by the way. Cathedral fucking rule. Except the album Supernatural Birth Machine that is. Utter puss.

I can't believe no one mentioned any of these:

November's Doom

*cough*look ar my post earlier in the thread*cough* ;)

and acid bath isn't really that new. their first album came out in 1994. same w/ november's doom, 1995 iswhen their debut came out.

I really don't get into doom too much but I'd have to say the more talented bands I've heard are Skepticism, Evoken, Thergothon, Shades Of Despair, November's Doom.

I'm surprised I didn't see any votes for Tristitia. Either everyone thinks they are shitty or just forgot about them.

I'm not sure if I would count October Tide or early Katatonia as doom. It was slower but compared to Evoken, they're speed metal. If they're considered, though, you might as well throw Saturnus into that pot too.

Skepticism. Probably the slowest and heaviest funeral doom I've heard. Their "fast" parts are on par with the slow parts of most other doom.

Try:
Sign of a Storm
The March and the Stream
Chorale
The Organium
