Crowbar are fantastic, but are they technically doom metal? I usually see them classified as sludge...

Dunno... Lacuna Coil remind me of The 3rd And The Mortal and other 'beauty and the beast' vocal styled doom metal bands, but I reckon that they aren't quite as downbeat/heavy/slow enough to be doom... typically classified as gothic metal, aren't they?

They are not Doom now, they used to be. Ever heard Dance of December's Souls? Thats some oppressive doom with some orchestration. With Brave Murder Day they began sounding Dark Metal and now they are in a rock/gothic hybrid.
