That would be a nice bonus but 'normal' footswitch control is more important to me since it will still be some time before I'll be rockin' a computer-controlled MIDI-Setup.

I got the below for dirt-cheap second hand.

Nobody said anything about computer-controlled MIDI but me. I just love the idea of letting a DAW switching my sounds for me and my bandmates. But since I figure it's kind of expensive and unreliable I'll just stick with standard footswitches.

I use that footswitch! its pritty solid and takes some abbuse live.
My band use alot of keyboards but we havent a keyboard player,
we feed the pedal into emagic logic (laptop) exs24 sampler
and the foot control sets of the samples from there, and we have our drummer playing with a click so its all spot on in time, well as long as i hit the right foot switch at the right time!
back to the main topic i pritty much loved the gate feature on my jcm 800 kk
and wouldnt mind seeing this being a standard feature on most amps.
