Dudes...I seriously think, this is a Masterpiece. I don´t talk about the entire album. I talk about the song - 10/10 in every fucking way IMO.

I'm not much of a DT fan but I've always thought the title track was one of the best songs ever. When they actually put their ideas together in a logical way, rather than just writing overlong songs, they're awesome. Favorite part = the bass+piano section towards the beginning.

The whole album is a masterpiece entirely, but Octavarium is just the icing on the cake. I think after getting used to Octavarium that Systematic Chaos just seems lacking in terms of emotion and musicianship and while Black Clouds and Silver Linings is getting back to Octavarium, I do think Octavarium is one of their best album even though I am more of an old school, Awake/IAW fan.

I lol'd when I heard the teaser for their last album whose name I refuse to commit to memory, and while systematic chaos most certainly had it's moments, and some beautiful licks as always, as an album it just felt not there. But, waste not want not. To ignore a petrucci album is to ignore inspiration and a chance to grab some rly cool lines from one of the best.

I think they were at their best (song writing and production-wise) during the Kevin Moore period...but that's just me. IAW will always be their masterpiece to me.

It's for sure the best part of the album & a great musical journey to listen to.
although HandsOfDespair is right about the climax, its not as good as the song as a whole.

blablabla images and words blablabla train of thought blablabla six degrees blabla :p

track 1 to track 8 have different time signature, ex. root of all evil use 1/8, answer lies within use 2/8 and octavarium use all time signature that the rest of songs have.

Very-very great composition

and btw watch this, Indonesian 10 years old girl play Erotomania,

sorry if little bit out of topic :D

Actually, there´s muuuch more than the time signature thing to that album, if you google it you´ll find all the awesome nuggets hidden within the album.

The song I thought was pretty cool until I saw them play it live entirely in the Octavarium world tour and HOLY FUCK THAT WAS EPIC.

I´m a big DT fan
