I think Rahvin was joking, playing with our feelings, touching our most sensible sense, playing poker in the bottom of our hearts.
But anyway, if you don't like so much the songs by Dream Theater, try first with the parallel projects of his members, maybe easier to taste. Jordan Rudess' solo albums are relaxing but made technically admirables, based obviously on keyboards. Mike Portnoy joined together with Neal Morse (Spock's Beard), Pete Trevawas (Marillion) and Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) in an interesting project called Transatlantic, a great mixture of each band.
And if you like the instrumental albums, made only by music, you will reckon that music can speak the lyrics by itself when you'll listen to Liquid Tension Experiment.
Oh, btw:
@Mel: Do ya love to push ppl down to earth and help them to fly high right to the clouds too?. You should listen "Images & Words", you could believe.
